Bird & Beans
What’s the Story?
Bird & Beans is a fun, simple casual game available as part of Nintendo's DSiWare lineup. The game first appeared under the name Pyoro in the GameBoy Advance title WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$. Players control Pyoro, a small bird with a very long tongue. The goal is to catch beans as they fall from the sky. The higher up the beans are, the more points players score. If a player gets hit by a bean, the game is over. Once players reach the high score of 10,000, a second game called Bird & Beans 2 appears. The premise is the same except the bird takes down beans by spitting seeds.
Is It Any Good?
Bird & Beans is an entertaining casual game best enjoyed in short spurts. The controls are very simple to pick up. The four-way directional pad moves Pyoro, while a button shoots out his tongue. Since the overall goal is reaching the highest score possible, there's always incentive to come back and top your previous endeavours. Keep in mind this is not a game meant for long hours of play. Bird & Beans can grow a bit tiresome after about 20 to 30 minutes. However, at $2, it's an incredible value.
