What parents need to know
Parents need to know that this DS version of DISNEY ALICE IN WONDERLAND is completely different from the Wii and PC version. It is also not a direct adaptation of the new Alice movie (the packaging even notes that the game is "inspired by" the film). The game uses highly stylized, very cartoonish visuals, but does contain a lot a fighting (mixed among far more puzzle-like brain-gaming). Even the cartoony characters can look a bit creepy at time, though, so the very young might find the game frightening. There is no need, though, to worry about any kind of realistic violence.

Positive role models:
No one in the game puts forth a troublingly bad example, but between the bickering male characters and the hapless Alice, there are no truly good role models, either.
Ease of play:
Simple, easily performed play controls, and a very nicely-graded learning curve gives this DS game a high score for ease of play.
Violence:
Fighting is very cartoonish, although the sounds of clashing metal are always heard (even when it's a knight fighting a cat). Alice screams when she is picked up by red knights and sucked into glowing red vortexes. There are a few instances of more gruesome violence (a boss knight gets spikes imbedded in himself, which he plucks out; a monster's disembodied eye is tossed around by a mouse), but they are too stylized to be considered truly graphic. Another possibly disturbing image has Alice and friend hanging from ropes that are attached to the tops of their heads. Less than any individual act, the overall eerie tone might be a bit off-putting for very young children.

The characters insult each other frequently, though it is all done with rather mild name-calling.
Consumerism:
The game is based on the new 3-D Disney film. It also allows you to join and connect to Disney Interactive's D-Gamer online service. Throughout the game, you will win items for your D-Gamer avatar.

This game is incredable! I've never played anything like it! The controls are really simple and easy to learn. The graphics are BEAUTIFUL!! And this is one of the few games where the dialogue catches my eye and makes me laugh. The red knights are incredably easy to beat (TIP: Stand next to Alice to keep her from being captured), and Stayne (the "boss knight") is also easy and has some hilarious lines. There is some mild name-calling (friutloop, loser), but it's few and far in between (and quite funny on most occasions). I do have a problem with the fact that Alice does nothing on her own until the end of the game.
The graphics are a bit strange (though, as I said before, beautiful), and kind of set a foreboding mood. The music is fantastic.
All together, I can't stop praising it. It's an excelent game that I would recommend for anyone.
