What Parents Need to Know

This review of Hannah Montana: Rock Out the Show was written by Erin Bell

Parents need to know that this kid-friendly rhythm action game, like the TV show on which it's based, is squeaky clean. This first ever Hannah Montana PSP game can be purchased separately for $40 or as part of a Hannah Montana pack that includes a lilac-colored PSP system, three episodes of Hannah Montana on UMD, a 2GB memory stick, and stickers for $199.99.

More on Hannah Montana: Rock Out the Show

What’s the Story?

HANNAH MONTANA: ROCK OUT THE SHOW is a PSP game based on the Disney TV show starring Miley Cyrus as pop star Hannah Montana.  When her manager gets sick, Hannah must oversee her own tour with the help of best friend Lilly and brother Jackson. In the story mode, players travel to seven locations including Nashville, Venice, and Mumbai, and perform 11 Hannah Montana songs (including three tunes from the Hannah Montana 3 soundtrack) by tapping various buttons in time to the music. Players must also design the stage and choose outfits for the performers. In a second Quick Play mode, players can play any of the songs they've unlocked. Close

Is It Any Good?

The between-song banter between the show's three stars – complete with voice-overs -- mimics the TV show right down to the studio audience laugh track in the background. The gameplay itself, however, is simplistic and not terribly challenging, which makes ROCK OUT THE SHOW an easy game to recommend for young Hannah Montana fans, but one that likely isn't going to appeal to players outside of that group.
