Talk to your kids

Families can talk about which activity they enjoyed most and why. Would you have liked them as much if Spider-Man wasn't involved? Why or why not?

What's the story?

What's the story?

The LeapPad Learning System spins an interactive and educational web with THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN book and software. The arachnid-hero leaps, glides, grips, and slings webbing throughout the 25 pages of the book as he takes kids on an adventure that teaches reading comprehension, phonics, compound words, and logical reasoning. The software works on any LeapPad or Quantum LeapPad. Kids place the book in the LeapPad's molded shell and insert the accompanying software cartridge.

Through graphics that are true to the Spider-Man comic, kids witness the transformation of Peter Parker into Spider-Man and his fights against Electro, Green Goblin, and Doctor Octopus. The software provides narration, voices for the characters, music, and sound effects. Kids can sound out words by touching them with the attached stylus. Early readers have the option of having the whole page read out loud.

"Spider-Man has been used in countless ways to further education, but never in such an unusual, unique way that seamlessly utilizes sight, sound and imagination," says Stan Lee, the creator of Spider-Man and the narrator of this adventure. Lee does a great job of creating excitement around Spider-Man's exploits.

This software skillfully incorporates learning into illustrations, the story line, and 19 interactive games. Kid-testers loved helping Spider-Man defeat the Green Goblin by out-rhyming him. If the Green Goblin says "Boom," kids select a comic drawing depicting Spider-Man going "Zoom."
