MLB 10: The Show (PlayStation 3, PSP, PlayStation 2)

common sense media says

This Major League simulation is a baseball purist's dream.

parents & educators say

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this is a straightforward simulation of Major League Baseball. Players control one of the game's 32 teams to try and lead them to World Series glory. MLB 10: The Show is playable online, a feature Common Sense Media does not recommend to children under the age of 12.

Educational value: A very good way to learn about baseball, such as strategies, rules, and terminology.
Positive messages: Since baseball is a team sport, the game emphasizes working together as a unit to win.
Positive role models: The game emphasizes teamwork, and gives the player opportunity to make big plays.
Ease of play: Controls border on complex, but nailing down the basics doesn't take long. As players move through a game, instructions pop up that teach how to play. Batting is centered on two buttons: a contact swing and power swing. The pitching is slightly more advanced, as players choose one of 4-5 pitches, and make timed button presses to execute a perfect throw. Face buttons map to the baseball diamond, so fielding and making throws to the appropriate base is straightforward.
Violence: Not applicable.
Sex: Not applicable.
Language: Not applicable.
Consumerism: Various baseball related sponsors pop up on stadium billboards such as Upper Deck.
Drinking, drugs, & smoking: Not applicable.

What's the story?

What's the story?

MLB 10: THE SHOW is a simulation of Major League Baseball. Players can choose one of the league's 32 teams to play individual games, or embark on a full season en route to World Series glory. Players can also create an individual athlete and guide him to a Hall of Fame career. New to the franchise is Catcher Mode, inspired by the game's cover star Joe Mauer of the Minnesota Twins. Players can call a game as a catcher, choosing pitches and gauging the health of your pitcher. The game also features the Home Run Derby for the first time, as well as a Movie Maker to chronicle great plays.

Is it any good?

Is it any good?

The Show is easily the best baseball simulation available. For players who really enjoy the sport, it's tough to find another game that so closely replicates the league. Pitching and hitting both feel challenging and rewarding, especially when you strike out a batter or whack a pitch out of the ball park. Visually, the game is gorgeous, as stadiums and athletes are created with intricate details. There's also an unbelievable level of depth, between the ability to participate in a multi-season Franchise mode and guiding an MLB team's minor league squads. It's a must play for any serious MLB fan.

Online interaction: Players can play each other online in single games or for a complete season, and can engage in chats.

AMAZING GAME! Not only is it realistic and fun, but it brings baseball right into your tv. It's just baseball, no harm at all, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone under 10, just from the difficulty of play.

MLB 10 is a good game.
This game is great, really good fun and will even get your kids to go outside and try out some baseball moves. Won't even cost a thing to get the game if you did what i did, I signed up at this link gifts4points*/home?ref=amirshaw and did a few surveys and got the game free, but overall this game is great.
