Worth it 100%
Ok, I'm not going to touch gameplay until later on (because quite frankly, the vast majority of this site's audience couldn't care less). First issue is language. Yeah, they swear, it's on the box M for strong language. That said, it's nothing too bad and more importantly, nothing your kids haven't heard before if they have any interaction whatsoever with other kids. Next is the violence. And boy is there a lot. From the satisfying explosion of a perfect headshot to the death of your character at the hands of the chainsaw wielding maniac, this game is violent. That said, it's not overly violent (like, say, Saw). The genre of the game is survival horror, and the dark element adds to the game perfectly. This game is scary, intense, well-made, hard, and not good for anyone who scares easily. It's a fantastic game, one of my personal favorites, and by no means the worst one out there. You want really violent? Try Dead Space. (also a great game, just gorier) Finally, the sexual content. I don't understand why everyone is getting so worked up over it. Ashley dresses in a miniskirt. The game is made in Japan. Miniskirts are normal there, and her skirt is actually quite modest by comparison (trust me, I was there) Oh, and as for gameplay, I recommend ign*'s excellent review. It describes the game far better than I ever could.

Resident Evil 4 is too funny to be taken seriously. The dialogue parodies American rhetoric in the "war on terror" perfectly. The violence may be a little shocking perhaps, but it's too comic book to be serious. Overall, despite the gore, I wouldn't object to 10 year olds viewing some of it and certainly by the teen years it's not at all too much

perfect horror starting games for 10+
I'm only 11 and this game rules. not a good role model cause if it was people would be walking around blowing everybodys head off in sight. I didn't see and sexual stuff in it nothing bad. The only thing that realy creeped me out was the monster ya have to take an infered scope too and shoot the monsters on it. swearing is not a problem not much swearing anyhow i think they say 5 or 4 swears in the game.

good for many ages without swearing
i could see where one would think not a positive message but actually think about the story. a guy goes to spain on a mission to rescue the presidents daughter all of the people in this area are infected of course you are gonna shoot em! you rescue her and stop the bad guys from taking over the world there is swearing but its another hero story not a lets go shoot people like gta

Resident Evil 4 Tips!
Well, I'm 9 and I'm allowed to play it. But you might need to think of how your kid reacts to stuff. Like this. Green - Doesn't get messages, no nightmares, doesn't react badly, doesn't cry. (they may need to cover eyes at scary scenes, and sometimes they may need to get somebody to play part of the game for them, because some of this game is really scary.) Yellow - Doesn't get messages, tiny nightmares, reacts OK with the blood and scariness, tears. Red - OFF. Don't let these children watch or play this game if they: have bad nightmares, get messages from games and TV, reacts badly and screams, cries badly. There are to tips for Resident Evil 4. The best RE4 games is for the Wii Console, always try that first. P.S. Here is a list of the enemies that are in the game and may be frightening for children. Villagers = Bit Scary (main enemy) - Men or Women with Axes, Pitchforks, Dynamite, Hatchets, Sickles, and Knives. Del Lago = Bit Scary (Boss) - Big Whale-Like Creature. El Gigante - Scary (Boss) - Big Giant. Zealots = Scary (main enemy) - Different men that wear robes, goat masks, and bullet proof helmets, while carrying scythes, flails, crossbows, and wooden shields while others carry dynamite and rocket launchers. They ALL growl and Mumble words in a deep voice such as "Die,Die,Die" and "To die is to live" all in Spanish. Others wear tattoos on their faces, and have red veins shown. Soldiers = Scary (main enemy) - Men that carry stun rods, flails, wooden shields, RPGs, dynamite, crossbows, big hammers and bullet-proof helmets. Bitores Mendez - Transformed Villagers that have a crab like head and try to shred open Leon. Dr. Salvador = Scary - Men that carry chainsaws Bella Sisters - Very Scary Group of 2 Women that carry chainsaws Novistador - Very Scary - Big Creatures that use their claws to scratch and can turn invisible. Colmillos - Scary / Very Scary - Dogs that use their teeth and claws to rip open your throat when you get near. Some dogs you meet may not have tentacles, acting like a mad guard dog. Others have the tentacles coming from the back and mouth of the dog and make them Very Scary. Armadura - Very Scary - Knights that make loud noises and have big broadswords and usually appear in dark places. Garrador - VERY Scary - Tall blind men that rely on sense and hearing with knife fingers and have deadly attacks such as swinging it's claws, charges and impales target, and swings and connect Leon with its claws and slice his head off. Ouch. Regenerator - Too Scary - are human-like infected creatures that carry many parasites and can stretch their arms and kill Leon when caught. They also breath weirdly, and do five noted breaths. When heard, and they get closer, it gets louder. Iron Maiden - Too Scary - Just like the Regenerator, it's even scarier, faster, and has way more parasites. Bigger claws, and scary actions, makes this a very scary enemy in this game. U3 - Too Scary - Pink creatures that can use thier claws to slice open the player and kill in one slice, sometimes. Verdugo - Too Scary - Tall Creatures that have robes and have sharp blades to rip open Leon, like many of the other creatures. Jack Krauser + Transformed - Too Scary (Boss) - Jack boss, and him transformed with a red glowing arm that can choke and tear through Leon. Salvador (Tranformed) - Scary (Final Boss) - Salvador transfromed into a Crab shaped creature with Salvador hanging and the crab being his head, this is a great Final Boss. So, it is TOO scary for you? You should really try it out. And again, try the Wii Version first. I really hop this was helpful, because this took me a while to do!

Incredible, Bloody Experience
Resident Evil 4 is widely and critically considered to be one of the greatest games ever made, but it is definitely not for kids. This game is extremely violent, as you would expect in a Resident Evil title. As Leon you will kill countless infected (not zombies) humans through gunfire and melee. There are graphic head explosions, dismemberment, beheadings (some via chainsaw) and other violent deaths including having your face melted off. It is definitely not for those who are easily sickened, as a majority of the violence includes parasites and grotesque monsters that explode out of human bodies. Outside of violence, there is mild sexual innuendo and women in provocative dress and infrequent mild to strong language (with the worst being sh**). For those who love action games or survival horror, this game is amazing, and is a must play for any game collector.

should be kids first m rated game
this is the best game ever.I think its iffy for ten beacuase it is really violent and the use s-t in every cutseen gets annoying but it is an iffy game

Excellent game
A lot of fun, not for young kids at all. Besides the violence and a few swear words, there isn't too much wrong with the game. It's not Grand Theft Auto or anything like that. Most teenagers should be fine with it.

RE4
I just got this game and am playing through the first level. There is some bad language (I only heard s**t once) you have to shoot and stab zombies and blood spurts when you hit them. Sometimes their heads blow off with lots of blood. In one part you go into an abandoned cabin and there is a corpse pinned to a wall with a pitchfork in her face and blood covering her body. The controls are strange and will take a few minutes to get used to. Gory but very fun.

great for 13+ or mature
great game series but you shoot zombies heads off. but it's okay for 13+. great game but buy it at 13+! beware there are many disturbing scenes and strong violence in this game, even though i have the game cube one and the playstation 2. When I bought the GC one the gamestop guy said this is a good game if you like gore.

Violence might be an issue but, there are good messages.
It's a very good game but, it's too violent for anyone under 15, there is some good messages though: Leon, the Hero is on a misson to rescue the presidents daughter. the president's daughter, ashley, is the damsel in distress and another message in the game is about courage, heroism, and preseverence.

wills review is it for kids, parents decision
resident evil 4 is a fine game there is some blood and gore but the blood and bodies disappear and some dresses are not modest and some mild tobacco and drinking references the blood is not as bad, there is limes and heads coming off but it is not like halo combat evolved where blood is coated all over the floor

good, a few problems.
While this game is very violent, and scary, it's not as realistic as some other games out there. because it was made in 2005, the graphics aren't as realistic as they are now, so they blood and zombies do look fake. after a little while playing through the game, you start to not notice it as much and it starts to lessen. but there are parts that will be frustrating, scary, or confusing for the younger ones (8 and below) but other than that, it's a good game. While there is cursing, 90% of it is in spanish.

The only really scary part is when the chainsaw guy comes out. There is a lot of blood, but it is rated M on the case.

Resident Evil 4
I just want to say that this game is amazing. It is probably one of the best video games I've played ever (along with Zelda, Metroid, Final Fantasy, etc.) and it was even rated number 18 on the top 200 video games of all time list by Game Informer. I also want to say that there is never one time in this game when you get to use a chainsaw. At all. Three types of enemies have chainsaws, that are used against you, but the only weapons you get to use in the game are guns and a bow (Jack Krauser rocks!). I rated this game OK for kids 15 years and older because it does feature a good amount of swearing and blood and gore (but honestly, it's a zombie game!).
