What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this is an expansion pack for The Sims 3, and players must already have a copy of The Sims 3 installed on their computer for the expansion pack to work. The expansion introduces new vehicles and vehicle-related clothing and accessories, plus the new Vehicle Enthusiast character trait.

  • The expansion encourages car enthusiasts to play out their fantasies by purchasing the car of their dreams and the accessories to go along with it.
  • This expansion introduces the Vehicle Enthusiast character trait, which allows Sims to have a special affinity for their vehicles (i.e. give them names, repair them, and so on).
  • Gameplay is the same as The Sims 3. The new items automatically appear in the shop when the Stuff Pack is installed.
  • Although the expansion itself introduces no new violence into The Sims 3, the core game does include some. Sims can taunt, argue, and get into physical fights with each other. Sims with nasty personality traits may actually feel better after beating up another Sim.
  • There's no sexually explicit content introduced in the Stuff Pack itself (unless you count the pin-up girl outfits and accessories), but courtship and romance do play a big part in the core The Sims 3 game. Sims with the Romance trait will aspire to a life of having as many lovers and make-out sessions as possible, and if married, will be inclined to cheat on their spouses. Sims can have both heterosexual and same-sex relationships and can be seen jumping under the sheets in bed to make "woohoo" (the game's term) -- which is accompanied by groans and giggles.
  • Not applicable.
  • This game is an expansion pack for the popular The Sims 3 game and is a way to renew interest in the game. The prices of the vehicles and accessories are average when compared to the other items in the game, with the exception of a few luxury vehicles. The F-1 firesuits are plastered with sponsor logos like in real life, but the ads are for fake companies.

What's it about?

THE SIMS 3: FAST LANE STUFF is the second "stuff pack" expansion for EA's The Sims 3 life simulation game that introduces the new Vehicle Enthusiast character trait, 12 new vehicles, and dozens of new furnishings and clothing that relate to four car-themed lifestyles: 50's style rebel hotrods, F1 racecars, James Bond-style classic vintage automobiles, and luxury convertibles. Prices range from the $950 "Sloppy Jalopy" to premium-priced rides like the $175,000 "Velocity" racecar.

Is it any good?

Fast Lane Stuff is a big improvement over High-End Loft Stuff in terms of what the expansion pack has to offer. Whereas High-End Loft Stuff only catered to rich, materialistic Sims, Fast Lane Stuff allows players to create four distinct types of car enthusiast. And it's not just about the car either; thanks to dozens of new accessories and clothing - from F-1 firesuits, riding helmets, and hotrod flame shirts to road signs and toolboxes - players can outfit their Sims to look the part and create garages and showrooms to make the vehicles front and center.

What families can talk about

  • Families can talk about which of the four themes (Intrigue, Luxury, Hotrod, F-1) did you enjoy the most?

  • What things are most important to you in a car? For example, do you prefer cool-looking fast cars or sensible safe ones?

  • Do families today need to own a car?

Its the game that is mature, Not the DLC.
Here we have some really expensive DLC which is not the bad thing, The game is the mature bit. Sexual content is the main concern as in all sims games where they get into "action" rather a lot. Not looking too good so far. You can beat people up but you don't see it..Plus you have to make them really angry in the first place. Not sure about language really but I'm sure there is some :)

Do not buy this game for your children!!!
Very inappropriate for children. My kids (ages 8, 11 and 12) played it with a friend before i realized how terrible it was.
