uDraw Studio
What's It About?
uDRAW STUDIO is a virtual art studio for the Wii, loaded with all sorts of media (paints, crayons, chalk, pens, etc.), all of which will appear and react differently in the pictures you make. The type of paper you choose will also affect the final product. And there are dozens of finishing tricks to add on as well. You can draw from scratch on a blank page or fill in one of the large selection of coloring pages that are available. You draw by using the uDraw stylus on the uDraw tablet, and the buttons of the regular old Wii remote (which tucks into the side of the tablet) are used to manipulate the menus.
Is It Any Good?
uDraw Studio (and the uDraw tablet in general) offers a whole slew of new artistic possibilities with the Wii. There are so many options, so many different media and materials, all of which can be mixed and matched in a countless way, that playing with uDraw Studio can't help but boost your creativity. Actually drawing or coloring with the uDraw tablet takes some getting used to, though. It's a feeling that is at once familiar (because you can hold and use the stylus just like a real pencil) and strangely foreign (because you can't look at your "paper," you need to look up at the screen). With practice, though, even younger kids should be able to get the hang of it -- and then the imaginative creations will really flow.
