What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Another Monster at the End of This Book...Starring Grover & Elmo! is a sequel (in both its app and book forms) to the Sesame Street classic, The Monster at the End of This Book. In that first story, Grover begged readers not to turn pages, so as to stay away from the monster at the end -- which turned out to be him. In this follow-up, Grover goes through the same problem, but this time with Elmo taking the opposite stance and goading kids to keep turning pages.

  • There's a thorough tutorial (given by Elmo) that explains how to use the app. During the story, if kids ever get stumped as to what to do next, all they need to do is listen to the hints and cues that Elmo will start giving them.

Is it any good?

ANOTHER MONSTER AT THE END OF THIS BOOK is a very nice follow-up to a Sesame Street classic. The story is genuinely humorous and well-acted by real Muppet voices in this app. And the interactivity has been woven in seamlessly. When Grover builds a wall of blocks to stop the page from turning, for example, kids can not only knock down those blocks, they can also move them around to build whatever they want. When Grover tries to paper clip the pages together, kids can help Elmo by pulling and tossing those clips. It's a whole lot of fun.
