Parents need to know that Britannica Kids: Rainforests is an accessible reference guide for information about the world's rain forests, including rain forest ecosystems; the animals, plants and people who live there; and environmental threats and challenges. In addition to text, photos, and videos there are also a handful of rain forest-themed interactive games including a quiz, jigsaw puzzles, and memory match.
Kids interact with BRITANNICA KIDS: RAINFORESTS by using a scroll-wheel that pops up from the bottom of the screen, which is an awkward way to navigate to the different sections of the app. However, this is the only complaint with what is otherwise a visually appealing and highly educational reference tool. In addition to interactive games and videos, kids can also click on highlighted words in the text for pop-up definitions of words like "photosynthesis," "drought," and "canopy."
