What's It About?

In Cash Cow, kids clear coins from a 6x6 game board by connecting adjacent coins that add up to larger denominations. The goal is to clear a certain amount of money from the board before time runs out. For example, when kids connect two dimes and a nickel, the coins disappear, they earn $.25 toward the goal amount, and new coins drop from above to fill in the empty spaces. After successfully completing a level, kids can use their "earnings" to buy decorations for the barnyard.

If someone told you CASH COW was a game about counting coins to learn math, you probably wouldn't be very excited. So don't think about the math -- just play it. You'll quickly see how fun and appealing it is. And it's a fabulous way to mix arithmetic with playtime for kids. In between rounds, players also get to use the "money" they've collected to buy new items for a farm scene that they can decorate and customize as they wish.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Practice addition and subtraction with your child using real coins. Young kids, especially, benefit from the use of real objects when learning math skills.

  • Help your kids figure out the different combinations of coins they can connect in Cash Cow; for example, what are all the combinations that add up to 25 cents?
