Parents need to know that Crazy Basketball is a fun "touch and drag" type of sports simulation game that is free but comes with the option to upgrade to an ad-free version with a $.99 in-app purchase. Players can choose from three modes with the free version, including a multiplayer mode in which players can play with others locally or via Game Center. If they upgrade to the paid version, they'll get six modes, including one that uses many different types of balls (golf, tennis, soccer, bowling) that have different weight and bounce properties, making the game more challenging. Training mode offers easier play for younger players or people just starting out. An iPad-only version called Crazy Basketball HD Multiplayer is also available in the iTunes App Store.
The nice thing about CRAZY BASKETBALL is that it wants players to succeed. Every time you miss, the ball gets a little closer to the hoop, making it a little less frustrating and a little more likely you'll make it. The game also offers clues on how to score more points. Some of the modes have timers, while others do not, offering options for players who get frustrated by the pressure of timing. The app keeps players' interest by offering many different ways to measure and track of achievements -- both personal and multiplayer. The backgrounds (some including fans waving flags and cheering the player on) are offbeat and quirky.
