Parents need to know that Five Little Monkeys Sitting in a Tree is a storybook app that follows the formula of other Five Little Monkeys stories. One by one, the monkeys proceed to get into trouble, then at the end of the book they all get reprimanded by their mother. There are three options for using this app: Read to Me, Read it Myself, and Autoplay. In Read to Me, a narrator reads the text on each page, highlighting the words as it goes along. Kids can tap on anything on the page, including the words or parts of the drawing, and the narrator will say the word out loud as well as show it. Read it Myself has all the same features and functionality as Read to Me, except that the words aren't read aloud automatically. Autoplay will both read the story and turn the pages automatically. Kids can tap things in the picture, but they can't tap the words that are being read. The illustrations in the book do not animate.
FIVE LITTLE MONKEYS SITTING IN A TREE is a fun storybook app for young kids about the five little monkeys made famous from the song about jumping on the bed. This time, they are harassing a crocodile from atop a tree limb suspended over a river. Monkey shenanigans aside, the app allows kids to practice their reading, and to interact with the story. In the background there are music and sounds appropriate to the story that add richness to the app. In Autoplay, the narrator pauses for a moment after she is done reading before the page gets turned, to allow kids to tap on the page or look at the drawings.
