What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Home Gene-Splicing Kit provides a goofy fun way to mess around with photos and create strange or funny faces. You can upload your own personal photos to be used in the app, but you don't need to do so -- the app comes loaded with a huge supply of both human and animal portraits. It's worth noting that the newest update is a "Halloween Edition" that also includes a slew of "scary" monster faces, some of which have fake blood on them.

  • The app is very well designed for ease of use. The only thing that might pose some difficulty is making sure your personal photos (should you choose to include them) are lined up properly in order to make the face parts appear in the correct places.
  • The new "Halloween Edition" update includes a library of "monster" faces, some of which may be scary and a few of which feature "blood" makeup.

Is it any good?

Whether you choose to upload photos of yourself and your friends, or just use the large library of pics already included with the app, HOME GENE-SPLICING KIT is addictive, creative fun. Within a mad-scientist laboratory setting, you can mix-and-match the eyes, nose, mouth, and hair from all sorts of different photos (be they human, animal, or monster) and create your own ulta-weird, often hilarious portraits. The tech behind the app is awesome, as your final hodgepodge creations will be very smoothly blended. Updates with new pics are being added all the time and, since you can always upload your own photos, there's an unending supply of new material to play with. Kids can play with what they would look like if they had Grandpa's nose and Mom's mouth -- or even the ears of the cat. This is great fun for all.

Hilarious fun!
Love it! Putting your own face in is super fun. Especially funny when you shake it - makes a random goofy face that's always good for a laugh!
