Hop on Drums
Is It Any Good?
HOP ON DRUMS is an app designed primarily to promote a movie for kids. The movie section of the app plays the movie trailer and has a link to buy tickets for the movie. The game portion is a drum kit that offers a few different modes, including a freestyle mode that lets the player just play with the drums. "I Want Candy" is a Rock Band-like game where the player must match the beats to the rhythm, but with only one song included it doesn't have much replay value. Plus, it would be tricky for the younger kids the movie targets. "E.B. Says" challenges the player to play back E.B.'s sequence, and "Egg Shaker" simply displays an egg that makes noise when you tap the screen or shake the device.
The drum kit is somewhat cute, but there are other music-based apps that are much better than this one; it may not be worth all the commercialism included with the app.
