What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this popular gag app turns the iPhone into a virtual frosty one. In addition to beer, the iPhone app simulates mouthwash and coffee, and players can purchase add-ons such as milk, cola, and wine. The iBeer Keg app for iPad will "pour" beer into an iPhone running this app. Our review is based on the iPhone app; the Android app may have some differences in functionality.

  • Ease of use4
    There are no intricacies to master except playing silly tricks on friends. For instance, press the "Magic Trick" button until it turns orange and is replaced by a fake apps screen. Tap the screen to pour a sudsy brew while commanding, "Beer!" in order to make gullible friends think the app is voice activated. (Unfortunately, the fake apps screen has a tendency to freeze, making it difficult to get back to the main menu.)

Is it any good?

 

iBeer looks and sounds so much like the real thing you half expect the "mug" to feel cold and sweaty to the touch. Choose one of five types of brewskis from the virtual vending machine, watch the screen fill with amber liquid, then tilt the phone (ideally into mouth) to make it drain. Repeat. Remain sober.

i dont mind watching people drink its just what they do when theyre drunk
