Watered-down version of DigitZ is still a great math game.

What's It About?

Kids first choose a target number they want to practice adding up to, from 4 to 12. The default mode starts kids at Level 1 and goes up from there, but in the settings, kids can change the game mode to give level options at the beginning as well. Kids tap on falling number blocks that add up to the target number in the bottom right corner of the screen. If they are correct, the blocks disappear and kids earn points. Kids lose if the blocks stack up to the top of the screen. Kids can adjust the speed of falling blocks in the settings menu.

If KIDGITZ existed all by itself, this would be a completely glowing review. The game is fun and exciting with great math lessons built in and some nice customizable features. Kids get to choose the target number they want to add up to, and the game automatically starts on the slowest, easiest level (though older kids can adjust this through the menu). They can also add some extra challenge by switching from numbered cubes to dice, which forces you to mentally tally all the dots. But pretty much everything you get here, you can also get from DigitZ (also by TapDream Arts) -- and DigitZ offers a lot more levels, more customization, and a greater age range. KidgitZ might feel like the lesser of these two sister apps, but on its own, it's still a very nice math game.
