What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You? is an app-book version of Dr. Seuss's classic funny-sounds book. The book runs through all the wacky sounds that Mr. Brown can make, providing kids with a lesson in onomatopoeia. Highlighted text makes it easy for kids to follow along with the narration. They can choose to have the book read to them (but they turn the pages), read it to themselves (with no narration), or select auto play where the book is read aloud and the pages turn automatically.

  • The app is incredibly easy to use, in terms of both turning pages and tapping to hear new words. It offers three ways to read it: by yourself, read to you, or auto-read.

Is it any good?

MR. BROWN CAN MOO, CAN YOU? has always been one of the best Dr. Seuss books to read aloud. It's composed almost entirely of strange and wacky sounds. But realistically, some of them were tough to figure out how to turn into real-life vocalizations. How do you make "dibble dibble dop" sound like rain or "splatt" sound like lightning? Well, now you can finally hear how it's done. What's really great is that the narrator both reads the "sound words" phonetically and performs them as real sound-alike noises. It's a hoot. Literally.
