ROLANDO 2: Quest for the Golden Orchid
What's It About?
Rolando 2: Quest for the Golden Orchid has a background story that involves the central characrer, Rolando, heading out on a quest to find a sacred treasure called, of course, the Golden Orchid. The path is not an easy one, with numerous hazards, chasms, and enemy creatures directly in the middle of the path that Rolando needs to take. The levels are varied in their presentation, ranging from beaches and ancient ruins, to jungles and dark caves. Players make it through these treacherous areas by maneuvering Rolando via slingshots, vehicles, and enemy zappers, making sure they carefully avoid all the perils in their way.
Is It Any Good?
ROLANDO 2: QUEST FOR THE GOLDEN ORCHID has an intoxicating combination of pure, brain-busting puzzle solving and a non-intimidating, "cutesy" cartoon aesthetic, making it approachable for players who enjoy cute puzzlers. With more than 40 levels and a large variety of environments, it takes a long time before it ever feels stale, and the puzzles are constantly mixed up. Just because players have managed to solve the first 20 levels, the 21st may present a completely new challenge. It will keep players on their toes and focused throughout the entire gameplay experience. Players also follow the story of Rolando and friends on a quest to find the Golden Orchid. While this story isn't worthy of a Pulitzer, it's well written enough to keep players engaged and to provide an incentive to keep powering through the many puzzle levels until they reach the end.
