Parents need to know that Roxie's Doors is an adaptation of a lift-the-flap puzzle book by author Roxie Munro. On each page, kids slide, pull, or twist open a door to reveal a crowded room. The narrator reads off a list of items to find within the room and readers set about searching for them in a virtual scavenger hunt. Almost every door, cabinet, drawer, etc. that can be seen in the illustrations can also be opened to reveal more. Some of the hidden items are pretty tough to find.
ROXIE'S DOORS is a virtual storybook that houses within it a hidden objects game in the vein of I Spy. The very fun twist lies in that kids not only open a large door to enter each environment, but can then open a slew of smaller doors within that environment. In a train car setting, for example, you can slide open a bathroom door to find the "mirror" on the list and also unzip a backpack to find more hidden goodies. Finding some of the items will prove to be a challenge, but that's all to the good in terms of extending the app's play time.
