What's It About?

SAVINGS SPREE is based on the Money Saving Generation concept for teaching kids financial responsibility. The concept uses an actual divided piggy bank with sections for SAVE, SPEND, DONATE, and INVEST to help kids choose where to put their money. The app includes resources for parents, tutorials for kids about making wise decisions about money, and a game show-like activity where kids earn, spend, and save virtual money.

Savings Spree is a playful game that demonstrates basic financial concepts to kids. The important lessons of being responsible with money will seep through as they play the six game show rounds. Once kids have played a few times, they may have absorbed all the information, but the more they play, the longer they'll remember the lessons. If some rounds don't hold kids' interest, rounds can be played individually in the practice area.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Help your kid outline a financial plan based on the save-spend-donate-invest concept.

  • One of the game's rounds involves identifying modern U.S. coins and paper currency denominations. Have real coins and paper currency on hand for kids to practice with.
