What parents need to know

Parents need to know that SpinTrip is a platforming adventure game where players spin through a fantastical land, fighting challenges and rescuing the wise sage's magical Shims. Violence is cartoony and there is no gore.

  • The game is easy to learn and the controls work well enough, but challenges do ramp up as you progress. Fortunately, the game has many save points along the journey; if you fail a short leg of the journey, you simply play that part over again.
  • Fantasy violence against cutesy little creatures is depicted with cartoony stars and swirls; when defeated, the creatures simply disappear. When the player is defeated, the character turns red and reappears at the last save point.

Is it any good?

In SPINTRIP, you play as a young tisu sent on a heroic journey by a wise old sage to rescue her magical Shims, which have been stolen by the evil Gants. The world is varied and colorful, the gameplay is easy to pick up, and the app scales gently in difficulty, all of which should make it easy for younger kids to learn the game. There is no voice-over; players just hear gentle music and sounds. And the use of the sage as your guide promotes a positive underlying message: Young kids can learn from their wiser elders.
