What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this spectacular ebook version of Dr. Seuss's The Lorax contains a powerful message about the impact of humans (and of industry) on the environment. Considering current world events, it is likely to spark questions.

  • Turning pages and seeing new words is made as easy as can be. Following along with the story is also made simple with the highlighting of words.
  • No violence, but there are depressingly gloomy images of pollution and environmental devastation (in a Seussian, unrealistic setting).

Is it any good?

It's hard to imagine an ebook version of Dr. Seuss's classic THE LORAX being done any better than this. The artwork is beautiful in its faithfulness to the original book, and the camera pans to just the right places at just the right moments. The reading is performed masterfully by an excellent voice actor. Highlighted words make it easy for kids to follow along. And the ability to tap on any item in the pictures and find out what it's called is a wonderful added bonus for budding readers. This version of The Lorax should set the standard for what a read-along app should be.
