Parents need to know that The Three Little Pigs - A Nosy Crow Animated Interactive Storybook features a very kid-friendly version of this classic fairy tale. No one gets eaten, and even when the wolf falls into the fire at the end, he is not badly harmed (and the actual burning isn't shown onscreen). The story is modernized, too, set in a present-day world. Interactive elements are handily pointed out by small dots that appear onscreen, and there are several animated segments (which can still be interacted with).
Nosy Crow's version of THE THREE LITTLE PIGS feels like yet another innovation in the way interactive children's books are being presented on the iPad. Kids can not only tap the characters to hear them say their lines of dialogue (and hear multiple lines per page from each character), they can also flick the characters into the air (they'll spin around and yell a happy "Whee!"). You can even do this during animated segments, tapping and flicking the pigs as they run from the wolf. There are loads of little in-jokes to find, like a spider and bunny who pop up somewhere on almost every page. And the three-dimensional art is ultra cool, allowing you to tilt the iPad around and seemingly peer "into" the illustration from different angles. The way it works, you feel like you can peek under the edge of the screen to see bits of the picture that weren't visible at the start -- and you can even interact with some of them. Of course, the story is adorably told as well, which feels like a wonderful bonus. Don't miss this visually exciting story app!
