What Parents Need to Know

About The Blair Witch Project

Parents need to know that tolerance for scariness is highly individual, and, especially for teens and younger kids, highly suggestible. In concrete terms, there's nothing really scary in this movie, and parents who don't object to profanity should not have a problem with allowing a kid who really wants to see it to give it a try. They should make sure that those who do see it know -- promotional tricks to the contrary -- that it is entirely manufactured and fictional.

    Know your child...

I really enjoyed this movie. My friends consider me a bit of a "horror movie buff" and this was definitely one of the better movies I've seen in a while. But, while this movie did get your spine tingling at times, it surely was not a whos-hiding-behind-the-closet kind of movie. If you're looking for a movie like that, go see The Grudge. However, if you want to see another just like this classic, go see Paranormal Activity or Cloverfield.

    not for kids

its ok but little kids shouldnt watch it and that means dont let the older brother or sister watch it if their babysitting or something cuz the kids tend to sneak out and watch them

Pretty Scary (1st time u see it)

I saw this a few months ago, and thought it was pretty scary. There is really no violence (that i remember). I just remember how much swearing there was. Every 5 seconds there was an f-word. The movie probably wouldnt be r if it wernt for the language.

The thing that makes this movie scary is the absence of a sure monster. The Blair Witch/ homicidal old man is never shown, leaving viewers with plenty of questions when the tape goes blank at the end. I watched this movie for the first time while tent camping with friends, and though it was good for some screams (the creepier scenes, such as the laughing phantom children and hangman symbols), it also had laughable flaws (plot holes, the egregious overuse of profanity- we counted over 140 uses of the f word alone). Many people also had problems with motion sickness, due to all the shaky filming, such as when characters run with the camera, but this is totally ridiculous. All in all, Blair Witch Project was a good chilling movie that doesn't cause even the shortest nightmare.

    Not scary at all.

I give it 3 stars for the excellent acting and interpersonal drama between the 3 filmmakers, as well as the creative plot, but purely as a horror film, this movie absolutley fails. The "scary" scenes come off as purely cheesy. For example, in one scene the characters are in a tent to settle down for the night when they hear noises. In a few moments, the tent violently shakes they are sprinting out of the tent, shoddy running camera work included. It all seems very cliche'. The acting is good, and in many scenes you can feel the animosity and insecurity in the characters like you were there, but not nearly as frightening as I expected.

Just language, nothing else to worry about...

This movie is pretty good, has some pretty good scary moments. The only bad thing about this is language, otherwise, its a pretty good film.

    iffy for 13

I honestly thought that this movie was scary when I first had seen it a couple of years ago but after I found out that it wasnt really, that changed completely. I wouldnt really recommend kids younger than 13 should watch this movie though, just because it does have a lot of swearing and bad language in it.

    NO KIDS WHATSOEVER!

The truth is, that no matter how old you are, most people will be scared stiff by this movie. It pumps up your adrenaline and makes you scared for days. They language isn't a problem because most tweens and teens are exposed to it at school and older siblings.

Perfect Horror Movie for Mature Teens and Adults

Very Suspenseful horror movie that shows almost no violence at all. I love it so much I bought it on my iPod. Only thing parents should really watch out for is its language. Over 150 F words. 5/5 :)

  14. I rate this title on for age 13 and give it 2.0

Ridiculously boring for a horror movie~

I really hate the way it was filmed; it didn't make it scary and it was really annoying. I found this movie to be really boring, which was disappointing because my mom kept telling me she thought it was the creepiest, but gore-less, movie she'd ever seen. The Blair Witch Project could have easily been PG-13 if they didn't constantly use the F-word; this became annoying just ten minutes into the movie. I suggest you avoid this movie altogether. :/

Explosive language out of frustration. Will become a clissic. Quite scary.

Interesting. Kids 17 and above can handle this because they probably swear this much themselves daily. Not a first horror movie. if you are 16 and under you will become frightened of the dark.( This excludes me!) Nothing really scary in this movie.( Thats' the whole "violence part) Extremely realistic movie, as if it was real. Very good. Not quite an ending, could've done better.

I thought it was really good but it was no where near as scary as it was made out to be, and I'm only 11!!!

if you don't mind swearing, than there is absolutley nothing in this movie. Still, i'm 13 and this was the first movie i have ever seen that really made me scared. the swearing is realistic, I'm sure that if anyone in world was in the same situation as those kids, their mouth would get a little dirty. it all depends on the kid thou. because you never really see what happens, so you use you imagination, like reading a book. but if you get scared from really freaky faces and a lot of blood, this movie is not for you. but if you are 13 like me and never get scared, don't mind swearing, and can appreciate a horror with no blood or freaky faces, go see the Blair Witch Project. PS. this movie probably cost about $300, so don't expect top notch quality or computer animation. the whole movie is literally through a camcorder.

Scariest movie I have ever seen

This movie have at least 137 f words and the thrill is intense. There scariest scenes is where a college girl finds her friends tough and teeth wrapped inside cloth, and gory. There is no other gore or blood in the movie, but there are two more really intense scenes. A college student is possessed, and pops out at his friend in the last 15 seconds of the movie, and half way through, the witch starts pounding against a tent.

    BEWARE!!! very scary!

This movie is really scary. If you have seen as many horror movies as I have then you will find this much different from others. It is about a couple of people that get lost in the woods and are filming their experiances. The entire movie is viewed from a handheld perspective. (SPOILER) Everything that happens in the movie is implied so you never see anything bad happen but these horrible thing are implied which make it REALLY terrifying. Not for kids that get scared easily.
