What Parents Need to Know

About Jetsons: The Movie

Parents need to know that this film's characters are firmly rooted in early-1960s stereotypes: Dad goes to work, Mom is a genial housewife, their son plays ball, and their daughter listens to the latest pop music as she searches for the perfect boyfriend. Despite the dated characters, the movie addresses modern themes of tolerance, working together, and environmentalism.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about the gender roles presented here. How is this a dated portrayal (even though it's set in the future)? While the men and women here are stereotypical, they are true to the original series -- would you have updated them?

I rate this title on for age 5 and give it 3.0
    My concerns are:
    • Excessive consumerism

    • My highlights are:
    • Positive messages
    • Good role models

OK for little kids, but adults aren't going to enjoy it as much as the series

This movie is OK, but unlike the TV show which is viewable by adults, this movie is more aimed at little kids. This movie was made as a semi-follow up to a former simulator ride at Universal Studios Florida called "The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera", which is wayyy more awesome then this movie.
