Parents need to know

Parents need to know that this film contains a few scenes of fighting and mild violence, and that Stitch, when in the throes of his Glitch, may be frightening to young children. There is also a scene in which a character dies and comes back to life, which may be upsetting or confusing to some children.

Families can talk about Lilo and Stitch's friendship and how the stress of Stitch's problems causes problems for them. Also, how do Lilo's memories of her mother affect her? What's it like when you really want to be good but find yourself being bad instead? How does Stitch react when this happens to him?

What's the story?

Reviewed by Sarah Wenk

Lilo, the seven-year-old who worships Elvis Presley, and Stitch, her alien best friend who everyone seems to think is a dog, are preparing for the big hula competition. But Stitch starts to have strange dreams, and then fits of bad behavior that become quite destructive, and rather frightening. It turns out that his molecules weren't fully charged when Dr. Jumba created him, and now his circuits are going haywire. If he doesn't get into the special chamber Jumba creates out of various household appliances, he'll die.

Is it any good?

LILO AND STITCH 2: STITCH HAS A GLITCH has the charm and humor of the original, thanks to a good script, excellent animation and fine work by the actors. Given that this is a Disney film, it's pretty clear how things will turn out, but there are some bumps in the road that are quite moving, and may be upsetting for young children. There are also some very funny moments, especially when Lilo and Stitch are trying to come up with a theme for their hula – Vampire bats! Recycling! But with a little help from the guiding spirit of Elvis, they find their story.

This is a lovely tale of friendship and family, with some refreshingly realistic scenes of less than perfect life at home with kids, aliens, and boyfriends all adding to the chaos. It's great family viewing, reminding us of the sometimes crazy bonds that hold us together.

Kids respond to anti social behavior

Lilo and Stich is a very cute and funny show. I enjoy watching with my 5 year old twin boys. I have noticed how ever that they are paticularly amused at some of Stich's bad habits and anti social behavior displayed on the show. They espically enjoy when Stich puts his tongue up his nose and licks his own boogers. Also when they are role playing I over hear them repeating comments made on the show, calling Gantu "a big dummy" and things of that nature. Just something to think about.

Great family film!

My whole family liked this film. My husband, teen-aged son and I laughed at the family squabbles and Lilo's ideas for her hula. And how much Stitch reminds us of our littlest one! My younger kids just love Lilo and Stitch and laughed and cried and worried and rejoyced. Disney does a great job hiding pertinant family values and life lessons in a funny, easy format that kids love and families can all watch together.
