Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about the writers' answer when asked when it takes place: "Idaho." How does it seem like or not like your own experiences of adolescence? How would you list your skills? Does Napoleon seem like the kind of guy who will be able to write a movie like this just a few years later?

I love this movie sooooo sooooo much. The only words that could be interpreted for a swear would be fricken or 'what the flip'.

    Be Careful But Watch It!

I LOVE THIS MOVIE! But some of it could be hard for kids under age 8; my brother kept asking me what the heck was going on; and lots of the word 'idiot' but otherwise AWESOME!

10 and up because the humor may be hard for the younger to understand.

This one is very funny, and it's not the sexual humor that you find in almost every movie, when there is anything related it is applying how stupid it is. But most people either hate it or love it.

Couldn't stand it, but maybe you can.

Yeah, yeah, I know it's a cult classic, but I never saw anything special about Napoleon Dynamite. The humor and plot fall so short for me, it's not even funny (and I mean that in the most literal way possible). The saving grace in this movie, perhaps, are the characters. The way the actors delivered their lines is what made this movie remotely watchable for me. The parts that were meant to be funny were not, and after finishing, I thought: "So THAT'S what all this fuss was about?" Like I said; a cult classic. Maybe you'll like it. It gets lots of love. But not from me.

    A Strange Comedy for Kids...

NAPOLEON DYNAMITE is a hit with kids across the nation. After I learned that my ex-art teacher went to college with the director, I decided to try it out. I'm glad I did, becuase now I understand all of those weird "liger" and "vote for pedro" t-shirts at the store. But it really wasn't amazing. It had some funny parts, but it wasn't great. Violence is minor, mild, and it consists of bullies holding Napoleon in a head-lock in the school hallways. There aren't any real curse words used, but "flippin'", "what the frick", and "freakin'" are used several times each. Sex consists of a sleazy salesman trying to sell cheap breast enhancers to women. Napoleon sticks up for his friends, but I wouldn't rely on him for much. There are some funny parts, but Napoleon Dynamite mostly comes across as somewhat of a waste of time.

The best movie of all time... It's flipping sweet!

This movie is completely family-friendly. There is NOTHING bad in it. Sure there is the breast-enhancers thing, but it is all for laughs and will go over the heads of most little kids' heads anyways. This movie has like the most quotable lines ever. "Are you gonna eat your tots?" "Tina, you fat lard, come get some dinner!" And so many more! There isn't much of a plot, but this movie is flippin' hilarious... SWEET!!!
