Not as violent as I expected, but still not for kids.
While certainly not appropriate for kids, this movie wasn't as violent as I was expecting it to be considering it's Tarantino. Kurt Russel was fantastic as the bad guy, and the girls were cool and kicked butt. A fun not-too violent horror movie if you're 15+.

Not exactly wholesome family entertainment, but it isn't as bad as CSM makes it out to be, either. Sure, there's F-words galore, and some bursts of extreme violence, but I think most teens could handle it.
All in all, I loved this film. It's probably only for Quentin Tarantino fans, since many will probably become bored by the multiple scenes of dialogue. But I was very entertained by the dialogue, and the last 20 minutes are exhilarating. Death Proof has, easily, the best car chase I've ever seen in a movie. The ending will make you want to stand up and cheer. This movie was just alot of fun! I loved it.

Fun car chase movie is boring at times.
This is a very fun movie, granted it is slow, but it dose do a good job of the car chase genra but it has many issues that it could have been without:
1. Violence is quick but brutal and bloody, only 5 people die in the movie, but their deaths are grusom and very bloody, A 20 minute car chase leads to mike breaking his right arm, being punched repeatedly and kicked in the head.
2. The sex is all talk, but there is a ton, a girl gives mike a clothed lap dance.
3. The F word is constant thruout the movie and most every oter swear word gets utterd more than once.
4. The first group of girls smoke weed, drinknig in a bar.
So overal this is a fun movie for mature teens 13 and up

Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof all right for mature teens
The movie Death Proof is not that bad. It has a lot of sexual dialouge wich is very detailed. the F word is constant throughout the movie. it also has some other terrible languge. The only violence in this film is 2 car carshes and one brutal and graphic beating at the end of the movie. This was a 1 hour and 53 minute waste of my time. Overall it was a crappy movie that was not entertaining. See Planet Terror for entertainment, it was a much more enjoyable film than Death Proof.

The weaker side of Grindhouse...
I love Quentin Tarantino movies! And i was deffintly looking forward to this but it was truly a dissapointment. Most of the movie was just annoying girls swearing and gossiping. The only parts that i really found worth watching were the 2 death scenes and the last 20 minutes of the film. Overall it really just didnt give you that grindhouse feel that Planet Terror gave you which i highly reccomend seeing! If you do decide to see it the death scenes espically the first one are pretty gory and there is also tons of swearing but hey it's a Tarantino film what do you expect? While you cant get this as the double feature along with Planet Terror on DVD you can watch it on some prenium movie channels on T.V. such as Starz and Encore and its also on Netflix. If you dont get either of those i reccomend checking out Planet Terror instead of this. And if you do see it as a double feature do be prepared to see some more graphic violence and nudity in the 3 other fake trailers that play before Death Proof pertically in the funny but rather disturbing Thanksgiving trailer.

One of the GREATS
Even if you don't like this movie, your teenagers will. I went to see Grindhouse with my friends when the double feature came out, and we all loved it. The age group most likely to enjoy Death Proof would be from thirteen to around twenty-seven, depending on maturity. Some twelve year olds could handle it, and I'm sure a few thirty- and forty- somethings loved it as much as teenagers, but generally, 13-27. Great movie- the Robert Rodriguez half of Grindhouse was better though. They ought to keep them together when releasing on DVD.

perfect for anyone who won't freak out about some violence or the lap dance.
The movie had a simple message. You get what's coming to you. I'd also like to say that everyone who said this movie was too gory or had to much swearing (including the reviewer) is beyond help or just plain stupid. It's a tarantino film. If you go see a tarantino flick and expect it to be swearless or to have every limb attatched by the end, you're watching the wrong movie

Violent hommage to B movies actually works pretty well.
"Death Proof" is Quentin Tarantino's half of the Grindhouse double feature (other half: "Planet Terror" by Robert Rodgriguez), a hommage to exploitation movies and B-movies of the 50s to the 70s.
As such, Quentin Tarantino made a movie that has everything what makes an exploitation film an exploitation film: filthy optic, bad cutting, a lack of story and - of course - violence and sex.
Exploitation movies are movies that are supposed to be cheap, but make a lot of fun with their silliness and Quentin Tarantino made exactly what is the definition of an exploitation movie.
And as such, the movie works pretty well - even though it is not as great as his other movies.
Contains spoilers:
There is an INCREDIBLE amount of sexual and strong language is heard throughout the movie.
No sexual activity is shown except for one lapdance scene, but it is more like something you see in a Pussycat Dolls music video.
There is drug and alcohol use, mostly in the first episode.
The violence, however, is extreme:
A woman is trapped in a car and a man makes the car jump so the woman's head is repeatenly smashed against the window. She is later seen completely bloody. She dies.
The same man willingly crashes into a car full of women, one person is thrown out of the car (nothing gory shown), a woman's leg is severed and falls onto the road (it is very dark and shadow-ish but it seen clearly - the severing part is quick, but the part where it falls down is long - some blood)
A moving wheel quickly drives over a woman's face (brief and dark, but it is gruesome)
After this moment - it is in the middle of the movie - the violence is not THAT strong. Some women beat up a man to death and it is depicted glorifying, though not too strong.
I had jump when the scene came with the jumping car and many other young people will find this movie extremely frightning and disturbing. This is not a real horror movie and the violence is infrequent, but i doubt all teenagers will be able to handle this movie.
But about the drug use and the very strong language - know your child.
