I thought that it had too much smutty innuendo, and was very disappointed. It should have had nothing like that at all, since it is made for young children, and is directed at them.

A Must See For All Kids Ages 3-12!
Although this movie is a little scary at times, I recommend it for kids between 3 and 12! Younger than that might get a little scared, and older might get a little bored! Awesome movie! A favorite of my 4 children who can watch TV!

Too stereotypical and sexual for young kids
Somewhat offended by the stereotypical latino-type penguins and african-american-preacher-type penguin. Overly sexed penguins. Too scary and inappropriate for my 4-year-old son.

Good theme, some scary parts
The scene in which a seal attacks the penguin is VERY scary. It is a very mean looking seal with large teeth. The movie has a great message in that everybody has different talents and that you don't have to be just like everybody else.

Boring for adults, message for kids iffy
This movie could have used some good editing. I was bored and found it predictable and not very interesting. Even the dance moves were repetitive. Our 4 year old was freaked out by the scary bits and bored in spots, and I'm not sure how much the 7 year old got of the message "to be yourself". I didn't care for the sexual innuendo, nor for the blatant stereotyping of Latinos. Lots of the references will go over kids' heads. It made fun of religion, which I didn't mind, but some will find offensive. The message about humans damaging the food chain seemed forced and tangential to the story. There are better movies out there.

Humans are ruining the world.....again!
This movie was boring. And just when it starts to pick up and you think there's finally a plot line, you learn that humans are ruining the world with oil rigs and zoos. I didn't pay hard earned money to be told I'm a bad person, and have my children feel the same. I thought this movie was horrible, and we'll never watch it again.

Best movie for hippity hoppity 5 year olds and up ever!!!

Makes fun of hope and religion
A main theme is that belief in an unseen power that will help is stupid. The Robin Williams-voiced penguin asks which female penguin wants to be first to procreate and all the female penguins squeal with delight.

Way too much innuendo!!
This movie had WAY WAY WAY to much sex talk, inference, etc. I don't know why movie makers can't make a fun, innocent kids movie anymore. The music implied sex during mating, there was many other times sex was implied. My kids are small and didn't get it, but they will not see this one again until they are older, if at all. It is too bad McDonalds and everyone else markets these movies that are not appropriate for their target audience.

NOT FOR KIDS!!
First, it was a little boring. It wasn't fun in any real sense although the music will get your toe tapping. The sexual references were too much, although those themes will sail over any youngsters head. Because the animals look so real, some scenes are really scary. I consider myself a liberal environmentalist, but the humans-are-destroying-the-earth-bad-evil-human theme was simply unnecessary. Why can't the movie just be fun?? Animals do not thing like humans!! Overall, not for kids, period. It's an absolute shame that this movie was marketed to kids. It's a little boring and weird, frankly. But the music is quite lovely, for adults! Don't waste your time.

We walked out
I took my 6 yr old son to see it. He was terrified of the scene where two crows are chasing the cute little penguin. The crows cornered him in the snow and was going to eat him. At that point we walked out. Wayyyy too scary for the 5 to 6 year olds.

Very disappointing
I'm noticing more films (Bee Movie, this one) that are trying to overlay a liberal message into kids movie. If I'm taking my kids to see a movie, I expect it to be a kids movie, not some liberal propaganda about how us humans are ruining the world. Save it for documentaries. Also, there are just too many sexual references for my taste.

Happy Feet
Sexual Content (Not an Issue): Mumble walks into another male penguin's privates. Violence (Pause): Mumble and friends are attacked by elephant seals. Language (Not an Issue): Freaking. Social Behavior (Pause): Some strong messages of being true to yourself. Racial stereotypes, some crude humor. Commercialism (Not an Issue): None. Drug/Alcohol/Tobacco (Not an Issue): None.

I thought the sexual content of this movie was completely inappropriate. I understand that the behaviors were based on the real behaviors of penguins, but I certainly don't think it's necessary to put some things on display for children to see. More specifically, the scene where two penguins fall together and are slipping and sliding around on top of each other and appear to climax together. Completely inappropriate. What I don't understand is why this type of material is constantly put into movies that are targeted towards young children.

Fun
- I rate this title iffy for age 8 and give it
Although, I thought this movie was cute, I thought it implied too much sex for youngsters. I think it's sad that movie makers can get way with filling animation with so much sex and violence, when if they tried to put it in a movie with real people or animals they would be required to rate it at a much higher level.

A wierd mix of good and inappropriate
I don't know if I would have taken my twin 5 year-olds to this movie if I had read the parents reviews. I was really disappointed by all the sexual innuendo, and relieved it all seemed to go over my kids heads. The lepoard seal scene was so scary the little girl next to us cried. The whole thing with the penquin choking on the plastic rings was too much, all the way through to the attack by the killer whales. So - little kids won't get the sexual references and will be scared by some of the scenes, older kids will get the references and won't be scared. Who is it appropriate for then?

This is a must see for the entire family
I throughly enjoyed this flim, it was humorous, it was serious at times, gave information about Penguins that I was unaware of since I don't own one. I was pleasantly surprised to watch this movie. I reccommend it to young and old, it has something for every age.

ATTN:DO NOT LET YOUNG KIDS SEE!!
I went with my daughter 14 year old to go see "Happy Feet", and we the movie theater compleatly shock at how bad it was! I could not believe how much sex related stuff is in it.We were sitting in the theater saying to ourselves "Don't say it, Don't say it!" Thankfully though, they did not put the word "sex" in it. I was very upset because it is a cute movie! I can't believe they actuall made this movie for children... If you are going to see it(moms/dads) be sure to see it first, then let your kid watch it....Very, Very upseting...

Not that great for a kids movie
A good kids movie should be entertaining, have a good moral lesson that they can easily understand and model appropriate behavior. This movie really did neither of the first two objectives and was iffy on the third. The content seemed way above the heads of the target audience and, truthfully, it wasn't really all that entertaining. They would've done better to place the dancing penguin in the context of a more lighthearted storyline without a message that was truly aimed at the adults more than the kids.

Unhappy Parents view Happy Feet
Without going into all of the details , let me cut to the chase. There was a penguin that was different than the others. He has to find his own place in his world. The music used in the movie was "Kiss" by Prince or whatever his name is now. The lyrics were NOT appropriate for young children (of which this movie was marketed to!). The song was centered around finding a mate to "make the egg". ] When Mumble & his female "crush" were going to go swimming they ended up rubbing into eachother in many human sexual positions (missionary style, "69" & then he slid down on her with his face in her privates.) While young children may not notice this, WHY should it even be in the movie? It's NOT necessary. Without the sexual overtones & the sexual position scenes, the movies would have been just fine. There's no need for this junk when the movies are marketed to CHILDREN.

an awful movie in many ways
Simply an awful movie. First, boring with a wandering unfocused plotline. What is this movie about? Being true to yourself, parental rejection, environmental degradation, the pathetic lives of zoo animals, freedom through dancing?? How can they combine so many themes in one movie, and why? Also, I got tired quickly of seeing penguins walk across a white landscape. Second, in addition to being boring, it's also frightening (why was the seal so demonic?) and depressing. I'm an environmentalist, but isn't a movie supposed to be FUN to watch? This wasn't. Third, I agree with other reviews that the movie emphasized sexual, racial, & religious stereotypes in ways that are TOTALLY inappropriate for children. This movie is marketed at totally the wrong audience. It is NOT a happy movie about dancing penguins.

- Good role models
Beautiful animation flick of a young misfit penguin coming to almost save the entire penguin population. Lovable themes (who doesn't love a tap dancing penguin) with great animation. Scary scenes may frighten young kids. The movie was around half an hour too long, it could have been cut further down.

Wow, I didn't know penguin love could be so sex-absorbed. Norma-Jean sings "all I need is your body from dusk to dawn." And a bunch of guys try to attract the ladies. Other than that, the movie is just fine.

Funny bur Innuendo Filled. Not for anyone under 10 or 11.
I must say that I found Happy Feet amusing and somewhat funny. I don't agree with the adults that said that the film should have been rated PG-13 (though it earns its PG well), and I don't agree with CommonSense rating it ages 5 and up. The movie earns it PG rating with unnesesary innuendo and some racial slurs about Latino penguins, but most of it will pass right over younger kids' heads. I wouldn't let anyone under 10 or 11 see this, even though they want to. It won an Oscar for best animated film, but I don't think it should have. If you want a funny movie that's funny for aduts and kids, check out the G RATED Cars. It's fun!

Good Movie all over. And parents...
I personally thought this was a great movie! I loved how they tied in the conservation effect, so even young veiwers would understand how 'We need to help Mumble.' I have read in the adult reviews that they're concerned about sexual content. Yeah, there are a few things, but if you look at them in a different light, it's not a problem. For example, when Mumble and Gloria are slipping around on the ice and fall against each other in a few awkward positions, all you have to do is think about it as, "The ice is slipery, and penguins aren't exactly the most balanced creatures on the planet," and bam! There's nothing wrong with it. Some people, I believe are just too concerned with having movies with no content that could be possibly twisted into something non-child appropriate. It's a great movie! I understand where you adults are coming from, mind you, but it's not that big of a deal anyway! And you're kids won't know the difference! And if they do understand, then they should be mature enough to not care. I don't. I mean, even the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End has the scene with Will and Liz on the beach, but I was able to sit through it normally. And there was a little boy right next to me. He just watched as if nothing was happening. Either you don't fully know what's happening, and you don't care, or you do know, and you're mature enough to not go freak out. Good movie. Watch it!
