funny movie with a really positive message
I have a very sensitive 5 yo, but she was fine with the Tai Lung "scary" scene. So much fun and enjoyable for our whole family (mom, dad, 5 yo, 2 yo).

Kung Fu Fighting...
This was such a funny movie! Very young kids may become a little frightened from the fight scenes. But is was very clean.

cute, but too violent for younger children.

Great message, not so great after effects...
Our five and eight year old boys loved the movie and ask to see it over and over again. One caution: if anyone doubts the influence of movies on kids behavior, come by our house after the movie is over. You'll find our kids "kung fuing" everything in sight. Still, it's a movie with a positive and inspiring message.

A Funny but Average Family Comedy
KUNG FU PANDA is a fun film. It is not a model of good film making, and features average script and voice talents. But it's beautifully drawn and pretty funny. Violence is the only issue in the film. Animated characters are hit, punched, kicked, and thrown into all sorts of situations, some of which are threatening. The bad guy might be scary, but none of the violence passes the cartoon level.

Too much for the little ones
Kung-Fu Panda is a fun movie and a great look into the stories Chines children grow up hearing. However, there is LOTS of heavy action and fighting, not to mention some pretty scary elements. The Furious Five have very intense fighting sequences but learn some important lessons along the way. The escape of Tai Lung was way to much for the very young. This movies is very visually stimulating. Those prone to visual over stimulation or seizures would do well to avoid this eyeful. Other than that, this is a cute story about learning to be happy with who we are.

Charming, Action, Great Voices
Kung Fu Panda is one of the best animated films of 2008. With many comic battle sequences

It was cool
I loved it! I loved it! There was a lot of action in the movie. And my little 3 year old sister got up in the movie and started doing Kung Fu moves!

Glad I didn't take my 4 year old
I like animation. I like China. I like pandas. I was excited to see this, but I was really disappointed. It wasn't funny and had no charm. I'm really glad I didn't take my 4-year-old son, because it had more evil and violence than I care to expose him to. The strangling bothered me the most. Evil tiger guy was trying to KILL little rat guy. No 4-year-old should watch that.

hilarious!
to be honest, my fiancee and myself were laughing more than the kids in the audience! of course, the movie has those goofy parts that every kid loves, but some jokes have the perfect balance between adult and child humor. perfect movie; saw it twice! haha

Not So FUnny Panda
Movie Rating= 2.8 out of 5 Top 3 Items You Need To Know 1) There are parts of the film that focus heavily on the spiritual side of martial arts. This can give kids a false impression of the truth. Also, the moral lesson seems to be tied into that religion as well. They look to their "masters" as god-like individuals. 2) Given the name you would expect a lot of violence; although I did not see blood in the fight scenes they are very intense and a little disturbing (even more so for younger viewers). If you take your kids be prepared for Kung Fu Showdowns at your home (the fighting scenes are in overload on this film). 3) Not as funny as the previews led me to believe. I did laugh at parts of this movie though. They did throw in some words that could be offensive to some (especially those with younger kids) and they tried to make light of situations where characters (especially Po the Panda) were being made fun of. Final Note: The movie left me a little disappointed. With all of the above situations I can't see myself purchasing this movie and giving even more cash to the producers.

Big pause for violence
The music, darkness, and evil surrounding Tai Lung were overwhelming. We made it through the escape scene with much comforting, but by at the end of the big fight scene after the escape, my daughter was sobbing. I would NOT recommend this movie for any young child sensitive to atmosphere.

Ho-Hum...
Jack Black fans (like me) may be disappointed. It just wasn't as funny as I'd hoped it would be--so you might want to wait until it comes to the dollar theatre. There was one really funny bit, where I really laughed out loud, but that was about it. People who think it should be rated as PG-13 (or worse, G) just don't understand the rating system. It's definitely at PG movie, which means people with young children who are sensitive should preview it first. Of course there's going to be fighting! The movie's called "Kung Fu Panda!" Duh.

WAY TOO VIOLENT
I love CSM and usually find your reviews excellent and balanced, but I am really disappointed in your review on this movie. Just check out these other parent reviews too see that many parents are finding this film way too violent. I guess that many kids are "immune" today to such scenes, but my 6 and 8 year old were frightened and I was really disturbed, so we left after 1/3 of the movie. Maybe the fun stuff was at the end (?), but the first part was horrible: crossbows being fired at a prisoner in a dungeon, spiky torture weapons, fighting and head-smashing. Ugh. WRONG REVIEW, Common Sense.

Nothing is the best they could come up with
No plot whatsoever. I have 3 boys, ages 3, 10 and 13, and I am very glad that I did not bring the 3 year old with us. Too confusing trying to keep track of the motives of the characters, while following a plotline that went nowhere. Violence was also a little too intense for the younger set.

Stupid, perfect for 2 year olds
This was the most STUPID, BORING animated movie ever! There is no point and it was like, how can you beat this tiger dude with a finger? And what even was with the scroll? Sure, 6 year olds like it but it's really stupid and pointless. Sorry cheesy-movie-lover fans.

A good and funny amimated story!!!
I liked this movie.I thought this movie was pretty funny and entertaining. This story is a good animated film that the family can enjoy. This has mostly comic martial arts action, and is for children ages 5- 6+. I gave this film a 4 out of 5 stars. I recommend this movie to kids who love animated films or to kids who like Jack Black. He is funny and sometimes( can be) inappropriate.

Familiar but cute
Hey I'm 13 and I enjoyed this movie alot, though its underdog theme was overused. But the action I must say was sick and better than any crappy "action" movie that's out nowadays, where things are blown up, etc. Very original plot-wise, and very vivid animation. Bravo, Jack Black.

My review on Kung Fu Panda
One of the better more interesting to watch animated movies, Kung Fu Panda is hysterical, and adorable. Po the loving, somewhat overweight panda dreams of being a kung fu master, suddenly his dreams come true when Ohway the old wise tortoise says he is the dragon warrior. Po is called fat, useless, and an embarrasment he is made fun of alot in the movie especially by Tigress (my favorite character), and Shifu. There is only one swear word used, but the violence although cartonnish is somewhat can be frightening for kids under 7 or 6. Tai Lung escapes from prison that scene is guranteed to scare sensitive kids. And Po is beaten alot not just by marcial arts, but by insults too.

Great but Kinda Violent
I love this movie to death, but there's a bit of violence in it. There's lots of punching and kicking and, though comical, is kind of intense. Take some precautions before taking young children because I'm 12 and even I was shocked when I first saw how violent it was. Still - Seth Rogen and Jack Black are my main men! HILARIOUS!!!!!!

I laughed so hard I cried!
Kung Fu Panda was and is one of my favorite movies of all-time. Master Shifu, the mighty Kung Fu teacher of the five and Po, was my favorite. Overall, it's a really funny and entertaining movie, I loved it!

Prepare for the Pandamonium!!!
I just loved it! All the Kung Fu moves, the Humor, and the awsomeness!!! But theres a little iffy part.First of all,Tigress says to Po "Why would you, a FAT PANDA, be the dragon warrior?" Second of all the Rino looking guy stepped on Tai Ling's Tail on purpose just because he can't do anything beacause he's trapped in a prison with a million guards. What did he do to you rino looking guy??? What did he do???Besides that, Kung Fu Panda is a great movie. I would tottaly recomend it.

it was awesome. if youre gonna watch it prepare for the AWESOMENESS!!!!!
I rate this title on for age 2 and give itFun for younger kids
It was cute. But not exactly my ideal movie. I think younger kids will enjoy this more than older kids. But it was cute and had some funny parts. Oh, and it's squeaky clean; not a naughty scene in it.

The movie was great! I didn't really think it was scary. I think that three years and up could see it. But that's up to the parents. I really liked the movie and I hope you see it!

great kid movie!
this is a great kid movie! there is nothing adult in it at all! there are fighting scences but there is no blood or anything. this is a very funny movie and because of its action scences it keeps kid's attention. if parents are looking for a good movie for the whole family, Kung Fu Panda is the one to see! 5+
