This movie was classless, tacky, and plain stupid. Good grief.

Not approriate for any age
Some friends said that this movie would be a great family movie. NO NO No... I can't believe the vulgarity of this movie. I love Abba but I mean common, making most of their songs Sexy and vulgar dance to them. When the song Gimme gimme gimme came on the brides friends started taking her so called fathers' and poll dancing with them and it was just inappripriate. DON'T WATCH this movie if you want to ruin Abba's songs!!!

Not a great message for kids of any age
I know it's increasingly becoming reality, but the movie portrays a highly dysfunctional family as light and largely problem free. It's as if the daughter could follow in her mother's sexual footsteps and expect a carefree life... That said, ABBA's tunes are as catchy as ever.

terrible movie
This is a terrible movie. I loved the live musical, but this was horrible. I could hardly make it to the end.

Fun but be prepared for inevitable questions
This is a fun, energetic, sing along film you'll enjoy over and over again. The big issue is how to expain to your kids why she doesn't know who the father of her child is.

A fun movie, but be ready to distract your tween
Most of the sexual references are subtle and go right over my daughter's head, although I do distract her if I know something questionable is coming up. The fun music is what my daughter really enjoyed. I don't think for one moment that she's going to emulate what she sees on the screen. I've raised her better than that.

Perfect for older kids but IMO not tweens
The movie is entertaining for adults and young adults but in this day and age the whole issues of promiscuity is waved around like there is nothing wrong with it. Which to me is very disturbing, I don't want my kid and nephews to grow up with a disrespect towards their bodies or their partner's. Having said this the movie is funny and altogether lighthearted, if you can look past the sexual innuendo and bad role models.

My 7yo loves this movie
It is a happy, feel-good movie and a family favorite. Of most concern to us was the drinking and smoking, but we love to have parties so it's nothing the kids haven't seen before (we don't smoke).

Excellent Musical...
Is a great movie....! My girls 5 and 7, love the music! Children at this age don 't get the dialogs!

You can't resist tapping your foot!
I just barely saw this over at a friends house. With music by ABBA, you can't hold yourself together. Beautiful story. A FEW lines suggest sex ( . . .) but nothing explicit. If you've taken an adolescence class and you watch with a mature person older than you, this would be perfect.

Fun movie!
I'm tired of reading the judgmental reviews of some parents of this film. I took my 8 and 11 year old daughters to see it. The PG13 rating comes from "implied" sexual situations (re: someone got pregnant 20 years ago after sleeping around with 3 men in a short period of time and had a baby out of wedlock. That child is now 20 and about to marry). This movie is all about the music and it is great! I haven't had so much fun at a movie EVER! My daughters have seen and heard worse on TV commercials! I am quite old-fashioned but not so much to think that they don't know about kids born out of wedlock. Forget your prudish judgements about mistakes people may have made and just enjoy this movie, the soundtrack, the sing-along, etc. The implied situations will go right over the heads of young kids and they will love the music.

Pretty Trashy!!
My daughter 14 & I thought it was a pretty crude movie. The humor was vulgar, the plot should have been titled how I should have more sense at 50. Yeash!!Every wrong choice awomen could make she did!! It did open a discussion about where slutty behavior will get you. On top of everything else no one could sing!!Save yourself grief & buy an Abba soundtrack instead because it was the only good thing about this movie!!!

I love ABBA and sang all the way through the movie
I enjoyed the movie! I didn't think any of the singers were Awesome or anything. But it was very enjoyable! Not sure if i would take my 13 year old , just because of the content. 3 dads, not knowing which was the real one......that does promote a loose livestyle. other than that enjoyed the music!

Great fun! Audience was singing along!
Starts a bit slow and somewhat hoaky but picks up in fun--by the end the audience was laughing and singing along out loud! I went with a girlfriend and we loved it! Some questionable lines including drug use/alcohol and references to blatant promiscuity but for kids older than 15-16 I think it is still a ton of fun. I have not as of yet been a fan of musical films....this one changed my mind! Meryl Streep is a genuis--every female character in this movie is stellar. Pierce Brosnan maybe shouldn't sing but what the heck--the whole package was great. Take all of your girlfriends and female relatives over the age of 15 to see this one...you will leave feeling happy, joyful and you'll want to sing/dance your way home!!!

Fun For Moms & Daughters 12 & up!!!!
At first my daughter drags me to this movie,Thinking I would be bored No way my daughter and I had such a good time ! If you want to get a little closer to your preteen this is it! Toe tapping, singing have a ball fun.Now I went out and bought my daughter ABBAS greatest hits. Its better than listening to what they have on the radio.Plus you deal with situations with daughters and not so innocent single moms.Go see it you wont be sorry!!

You wonder what is wrong with America
I really cannot believe people and Christians that feel this thing is alright... I think sexual innuendos is the first stage to more pregnancy... Where are parents?

One time Musical
I actually didn't know it was a musical until they busted out singing. I don't think it would have been very good without the music; It added a lot of life to the movie. There are sexual references and that one part where we saw the guys a** so it wouldn't be appropriate for smaller kids. They probably wouldn't be very entertained either. One of the older women is a serious cougar too. I thought it was alright, enjoyable. Definitely a one time movie for me though.

Pretty lame
This movie was pretty dumb. (Especially if you aren't an abba fan!) It is full of inuendoes, and some blatant rear nudity is shown! Really, don't see it unless you can stomach sunshiney-ness and it-all-works-out-in-the-end!

New Musical
I personally love this movie because I love musicals, and usually you can't buy a movie of one- you usually have to go to broadway, or they are very old and for younger children. Additionally, it brings back good songs from our parent's time periods- Abba. There is some sexual content- suggestive dancing, bachelor/bachelorrete parties, and the main character not knowing who her father is due to her mother having 3 sexual partners in one month. I think that this is 13 year old material though because of the fact that television shows have this and much more for young teens.

The First Good Musical In A While
Musical movies like Spectacular and HSM have been driving me nuts lately, so it's good to see a musical that actually made me dance and sing along! Sexual content is noticeable, drinking and smoking is seen, and there is some brief language. No blood/gore/violence that I recall. A very good movie!

Suitable for all...
Ok - so there are one or two perhaps dodgy scenes such as the naked butt cheeks and the dancing on the beach. But really anbody could watch it and get enjoyment out of it. I know a four year old who watches it wither her aunty (who she lives with) every day and has memorised the words and dance routines to the songs - it is simply harmless fun and it's a PG rated, so why is it for 13s +?

This is the greatest movie! Appropriate for 10+. I am in 5th grade and so is my friend. We love this movie. There is mild words but a great message. It is so cute! It is a bit not appropriate for children under 10.

Very Entertaining Musical
This is a surprisingly good movie. There is not too much to worry about for middle schoolers, but young kids will not understand the sexual references and other content. Sex (yellow): mostly in the form of dialogue; a few kisses; a few songs have sexual meanings; one quick kiss between two men. Violence (gray): none too questionable; a woman almost falls off of a beam from a roof. Language (gray): very mild There is also some drug use.
- I rate this title on for age 12 and give it
very good.
i liked this movie a lot, and my mom really wanted to see it too. i do think merrall streep was to old for the part, but she did a good job anyway. it was a great movie, though!!!
