This movie is so gay (;

The last scene of the movie was so sad. A man shoots Harvey with a gun and he dies.

It was a great movie and overall I am glad my son watched it for several useful lessons but he found the sexual content disturbing

Sean Penn and the entire cast were amazing. Well done--balanced movie. Very educational---some curses and two backside shots and of course two (not bloody) shootings. Makes one really think about discrimination and how some things haven't changed. I cried during the movie and after. I would say for a mature 13 year old to 15+ for an audience.

This would be good for all 12+ people with all the hatred now of day.

Very good message. Never give up. But there are a couple of scenes that i think are innopropriate for 12 and under kids

Nothing more than a showcase for Sean Penn's star power.

A brilliant and beautiful movie. The language is R-level, but teenagers say this stuff anyway, they can handle it. No use pretending. The sexual content and violence are nothing you wouldn't see in a PG-13 film, honestly. As for the message -- it's a movie about human rights and the right to love. It's a very good movie if you want to instill moral values in your kids.

Milk gave Sean Penn his second oscar and it was well deserved as he played Gay rights activist Harvey Milk. the movie is a stirring account of how he tried to give homosexuals freedom until he was brought to his death by Dan White.

Balls! I can't belive that stupid, angry, Sean Penn won best actor! I don't hate homosexuals, (because saying "gay" is "politicly incorrect".) but the only reason this film won anything is because it's about a homosexual! BALLS!

Every single person who voted for prop 8 should be forced to see this. The acting was beautiful and there was not too much in the way of inappropriate things. It was a great movie.

One of the best movies out there. Sean Penn's performance was amazing and he most certainly earned that Oscar. All the actors were fantastic. I loved James Franco's performance and character, Scotty, and I also loved Emile Hirsch's acting and character Cleve Jones. Great movie. Very inspiring and moving.

okay as a teen and someone who understand adults i can say i am very disapponited in the adults i mean it was gay no big deal the man was killed and the guy who killed him got off free and all you care about is that there was gay kissing really

sean penn is the best actor hands down compared to richard jenkins brad pitt frank langella and micky rourke. he is the best the movie is second only to slumdog millionaire josh brolin does not deserve an oscar nomination. the film does it is well directed breilliantly acted and is splended the film is about harvy milk who was asasinated by dan white played by josh brolin. the film cronicles his life from 40 to his death the film is inspirational and better than button and frost nixxon. i saw this film in january while it was still in theaters and bought it today i love milk i can't stop saying it . go rent this movie you will love this materpiece biopic

I agree with lyra, this movie does have mature themes BUT it is a must-watch movie for anyone living in the bay area. It is a very inspirational film, especially with the passing of prop 8. As for age, 12+ is my opinion - as long as you know what to expect

I'm 15, and I thought this movie was really good. I think that it was just about right for people my age. Sean Penn is amazing in here, and the other actors are great too - really, there's not one weak member of the cast. As you watch the movie, you come to understand both Milk and Dan White very well. To me this didn't seem like an extremely political movie even though it obviously has political aspects - it was more of a portrait of the last 8 years of Harvey Milk's life. I was interested in what was going on the whole time, never bored. I don't know if it will change your perspective, but it certainly is a great movie to watch! Surprisingly upeat, too.

Yeah, so I'm 13. So what??!! Milk is so so so so so good. I'm encouraging all of my friends to see it, and most of my teachers. My parents took me and my 11 year old brother to see it, because it's a very important topic. Especially with everything going on right now about gay rights, like Prop 8 (which totally should NOT have won, and I'm really mad!!!). There are inappropriate bits, I guess, like the gay men sex and pot and some violence. But if you/your kid really wants to see it and they care about gay rights (or just want to see Sean Penn in a winning Oscar role) and they're older than ten and pretty mature, then they should be able to see it. Lots of Oscars with Milk, I'd say. (also if you are from San Francisco or even Marin, like me, you should seriously see it because it's cool seeing familiar sights in a movie. see it in the Castro!!!)
