Stay Gold, Ponyboy. Stay Gold.
This is my second favorite movie of all time, and probably my most watched. I have the lines memorized. The nice thing about this is, it stays true to the book. I read the book first which helped me to understand the backstory more. I first watched this when I was in 8th grade (about 12/13 years old). It doesn't sugar coat anything. It's raw, emotional, intellegent, and is one of the most brilliant YOUNG cast ensombles to ever be shown on screen. C. Thomas Howell, Ralph Macchio (you know, The Karate Kid before he was The Karate Kid), Matt Dillion, Rob Lowe and Emillio Estevez (of the infamous 80s "brat pack", Diane Lane, Patrick Swayze, even Tom Cruise before he made it big. I recommend this movie. Hands down. Yeah, yeah, so there is some bad language (nothing obscene, grotesque, or demeaning), some teen smoking/drinking, and a rumble, but that's nothing compared to what kids see in magazines, video games, cartoons, or television shows. It's a good family movie, in the way it teaches no matter how hard life may seem, family bonds conquer all.

The Outsiders
Fantasic movie, and even better book. Acting was great, but could have been a bit better. Overall the storyline went pretty well with the book, but they might have missed a few things. And I also think the kids in this movie are good role models aside from their gang life. In one part of the movie/book, they risk their life to save kids they dont even know from a burning church and one of the heroes (Johnny) dies in a hospital due to the large piece of burning lumber that fell and severely damaged his back when he tried to leave the collapsing building.

The only reason that i give it a low rating
the only reason that i give this a low rating is that there is a ton of language, language is used in many places the book did not, the book is so much better, read the book first, dont let the movie kill it for you.

One of my favorites
I first saw this movie when I was 11 years old and I really enjoyed it. I was in love with the characters, (mainly the Greasers) and I even got my friends interested in this movie. The movie has some violence and two characters die, but it teaches a message. This movie has very little sexual themes, there isn't even any kissing, but one character in particular smacks a girl on her butt and laughs (he's drunk) and another guy harasses a girl at a movie theater. This is movie has many celebs that went on to become huge stars in the 1980's and '90's.

The Outsiders
I had to read this book for English class. It was a VERY good book. It had a lot of fighting and drugs. The charecters get beat up a a lot. They smoke and drink. I think its more for mature teens. but its a very great book

Great adaptation of the novel!
I hate it when people complain that a director left some stuff out in their film adaptation of a novel. IT'S A MOVIE. The book and movie are two seperate things. With that cleared up, this is a great movie. I nearly cried at one part (anyone who has read the book or seen this movie knows what that is) so keep some tissues on hand if you cry during sad movies. ***** Five stars!

The Outsiders has some violence
A character is stabbed and there is blood on the knife that he was stabbed with. A character is shot to death by policemen. There is a gangfight, and a character is beat up. I heard d**n, a**, s**t, bast**d, and SOB. Teenagers smoke.
