Parents need to know that this DVD combines interactive segments with sketches that put the emphasis on using your imagination. Bright animation, cheery songs, and the familiar and beloved Sesame Street friends make this a fine choice for young kids. A CD-ROM packaged with the DVD offers interactive games, videos, and special activities that reinforce the imagination message.
One in a series of DVDs from Sesame Workshop, PLAY WITH ME SESAME: IMAGINE WITH ME is envisioned as a "personal play date" for young kids that combines vintage Sesame Street clips with new, interactive segments all emphasizing the importance of using the imagination. Cookie Monster and Prairie Dawn imagine all the endings to Cookie Monster's ill-advised plans for getting Prairie Dawn's cookies, and later the duo bakes make-believe cookies together. Elmo sings about the virtues of imagination, and other characters underscore the message of the song with their own efforts at make-believe.
Imagine with Me exhibits the high-quality, thoughtful programming that parents have come to expect from Sesame Street. And like a regular episode of Sesame Street, the segments are fast-paced and varied for short attention spans. The interactive segments, which invite the viewers to do call and response, make this more than a passive watching experience. A smattering of more sophisticated humor in the dialog is a nod to the parents who will likely be watching or listening to this DVD over and over again.
The DVD comes with a bonus CD-ROM featuring interactive games, videos, and special activities that reinforce the imagination message.
Families can talk about how the Sesame Street characters use their imaginations. How does Cookie Monster's imagination help him? Is there something that you are afraid of, like Ernie and the monsters under the bed? How could you use your imagination to make those things less scary, just like Ernie does?
