One of my faves to watch over and over again. Good soundtrack, too. They did a pretty good job compressing the book. I also enjoy the version from the BBC's Complete Jane Austen series, but it's quite a time commitment. Overall, a good intro to Austen, but of course tweens/teens need to have the patience for the more challenging dialogue.

Loved it! My favorite!
This movie is beautiful. Its not only a movie that I believe challenges your brain as well as gives you that "favorite movie" feeling of a chick flick. Full of surprising twists and romance. A MUST SEE for people of all ages. People who enjoy reading Jane Austen novels would like this. They did a fantastic job at keeping it true to its "novel form". TWO THUMBS UP!

Beautiful!
This was such a good movie. It was very clean and could be watched by a child most any age (though younger children may not understand what's going on). Fabulous!

Austen Is Amazing. . .
This movie is a wonderful take on the book. Emma Thompson did a superb job writting some of the script, especially where Charlotte makes her speech to Lizzie about marrying Collins. It was well thought out, and wonderfully executed. A MUST SEE!!!!

Pretty good typically love story!
Watching Pride and Prejudice this first thing you notice is the main characters ability to stand out from the rest of her sisters. I find Keira Knightley the perfect component for Austen character, Elizabeth. Her acting skills are on key with Elizabeth’s persistence and stubborn attitude. You can tell right in the beginning that Elizabeth is different from the rest of her money hungry sisters. Elizabeth looks for more that money or land, as she refuses Mr.Collins hand in marriage. When first meeting Mr.Darcy she finds him dull and nothing special. Right away you can tell Mr.Darcy is intrigued by Elizabeth’s beauty. Mr. Bingely, Mr. Darcy’s counsin falls for Elizabeth’s sister, Jane. Mr. Darcy does not see Jane’s love for Mr. Bingely so, he drives Bingely away from happiness. Soon as Elizabeth hears the news of what Mr. Darcy has done she is outraged. They meet up to discuss the crisis. You can see the temper in Elizabeth’s face as she is disgusted by Mr. Darcy. He tries to explain and confesses his love for her. Elizabeth being the strong person she is tries not to at shocked and ignores it. Elizabeth is too hard head to see that she is in love with Mr. Darcy. She does not want to admit that she is in love with this man that drives her insane. Nevertheless, she finally lets her guard down and falls in love with Mr. Darcy.

“I am much more dumb havening seen this film.†A story of two young people, the rich Mr. Darcy, and the poor Elizabeth Bennett. Elizabeth, and her sisters go to a ball near their home all with the intentions of meeting the men of their dreams. When Elizabeth sets eyes on Mr. Darcy he comes off as an arrogant, pompous, but extremely handsome. Nobody likes Mr. Darcy including Elizabeth. As the story unfolds Elizabeth, and Mr. Darcy begin hanging around each other a lot, and it becomes clear that they may be falling for each other. Neither one knows what to really do, Mr. Darcy was raised to be a proud “rich†man, and Elizabeth has been borderline “poor†all her life. This “classic†romance is a bomb in my opinion because it has all of the tendencies, and qualities of a cliché love story, and I don’t think that we need anymore of those. Two hours of back and forth mixed feelings isn’t my idea of a good time. I feel that this is not a timeless classic, its just another spin on the classic love story.

The Perfect Movie
Pride and Prejudice is a classic love story between many young people from two different classes. I unlike some people thought that the movie was much better than the book. The movie had all of the qualities that a good movie should have. The movie had the villain Lady Katherine, the mother who just wanted her daughters to marry well, and a father that couldn’t let go of his little girl, then there was Mr.Wickom the man who lost all of his money and was paid of to marry the youngest daughter Lydia. The language of the movie came from the neoclassical era around the 1700’s. Elizabeth was my favorite character of the movie because she spoke her opinions about everything and she wouldn’t be forced to marry someone that she didn’t love. But Jane, Elizabeth’s older sister was very soft spoken and didn’t really say what she felt. Jane married Mr. Bingly because she loved him and not because she was forced too. I honestly thought that Elizabeth still would have not been married at the end of this movie because of who she was. In my opinion this movie was a great movie and everyone should see it.

a true love story shown well
Pride and Prejudice is a mere artwork of the novel. In watching, you can see the romanticism, and the acting can be overwhelming. Kiera Knightly played an excellent roll as Elizabeth Bennet, showing the right amount of sternness, along with the look of love and despair in her eye. She starts off being the second oldest child, and according to her mother, the least likely to attract a suitor. She has a hard way about her, speaking her feelings, and not worrying about what others think. When meeting Mr. Darcy, even his high place in the society doesn’t change that. At one point, she states that she will “loathe him for all eternity.†As time goes by, emotions fly between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, as they slowly let go of their pride. This shows characteristics of the Romanticism era, letting us see the true feelings of the characters, and it also shows so much nature in almost every scene, letting the audience get a real feel for the kind of life people lived back then. Also, it shows the Neoclassical era from the irony of two people that start out hating each other, become lovers. The movie lets the audience see what Jane Austen thought in her mind while creating this amazing love story. Even though it’s in a different time frame and dialogue, it captures the heart and pulls you right into the love story. I loved this movie, and would recommend it to anyone who likes desire, timid romance, and plain, true love stories.

Read the book!
The movie was good however, the novel shows more in depth character development. Also, the novels ending is more realistic.

Another good remake
Have to agree that the A&E version can't be beat but for those who do not want to watch 6 hours of Austen this 2 hour version is excellent as well. A little confusing as they jumped through the story quickly but very well acted and clean, witty, romantic.

Pleasing remake... A&E is better
First off, I'm a huge fan of the A&E version, so hard to compare with that. BUT, after watching this short version twice, I decided I liked it. It moves a little too fast and needed to delve deeper into the characters - their reasoning, personality, etc. However, it is a clean movie and I enjoyed it.

A beautiful piece of art....
As a fan of this great book, I looked forward to another film version...and was NOT disappointed. From the first shot to the last, the director somehow brought me into the story with sounds, sights, smells, feelings. Very well done, very romantic and the characters were perfectly well cast. I would take my daughter to see it in a heartbeat.

perfect....
This movie was one of the best movies i have ever seen!!! It was full of love and romance and it was just simply wonderful!!!! If you are the type of person who likes romance and isn't bored by it then you will love it!!! it may be confusing in the beginning because of their English accents and you may not understand whats happening but if you just wait and watch the whole thing it will all come together. You actually might have to watch it 2 times in order to completely understand every thing and thats ok because you aren't wasting your time!!! and this movie has no disturbing content whatsoever and is perfectly fine for anyone to watch. However i don't recommend this movie for younger kids because they won't understand everything and will get bored. so this is a great movie for a bunch of girls at a sleepover who are craving a romantic movie!!! :)
I rate this title on for age 2 and give itAwesome and clean movie
This movie is awesome... Keira Knightly and all the other actors give lots of feeling into their characters. Great movie and is appropriate for any children.

Look at the scenery if you don't like the plot
I loved it. Call me a hopeless romantic, but I absolutely loved it. The filming was superb and one scene where Elizabeth is standing on the edge of a cliff is breathtakingly beautiful. The song everyone keeps playing on the piano gets to be a it repetitive, but it's a lovely song so I didn't mind. If you can't appreciate a nice love story, then you've been watching too much violent TV.

Sweet and chaste
Pride and Prejudice is my favorite movie, with expressive acting, lovely cinematography, an exquisite score, and an examination of the harsh realities even amongst people of plenty. As an additional enticement, parents will have little to object to in this innocent love story, as opposed to many other so-called ‘romantic’ movies of today.

I feel Like I've Just been Notebook'd
Full of class barriers and formalities, a person could expect this movie to be as boring as the title suggests. This person should be slapped. The Pride and the Prejudice is a love story above all else, but the classic characters help keep the story from being a typical cliché romance movie. I found the movie splendid in picture quality and overall movie presentation. The movie and book are similar right until the end, allowing readers to watch the book they’ve read. The interactions between the characters feel real to the viewer and help bring one into the story. You’ll be booing as characters split and cheering as they’re reunited. Showing signs of the neo-Classical era with the irony of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth’s relationship and the manners of Mrs. Bennett, the Pride and the Prejudice is also showing with the emotions and country life of the Romantic Period. With all the realness of life and the feeling of my heart strings being plucked by a master harpist, Pride and the Prejudice gives me the feeling like I’ve just been Notebook’d.

Pretty Darn Good
Pretty Darn Good This movie really wasn’t that bad at all. The acting was pretty descent and it was very similar to the book. Pride and Prejudice is a good romantic movie without a massive amount of kissing or all of the lovey dovey things that are usually found throughout love stories. In fact the only real love scenes are at the very end of the movie. The fact that the movie is so close to the book makes it even better because movies based off books are often butchered up and totally changed for the sake of entertainment, but this movie is fairly accurate until the last scene which is the only scene that is totally different from the book and also the only kiss in the movie. This movie actually kept my attention, which isn’t something easily done. Lady Catherine is an unexpected antagonist, whom I found myself badly hoping would not get her way. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are two wonderful who reject society and are two people you just want to see together. This is an excellent movie with a few surprising twists and a sweet ending that leaves you with a warm feeling inside.

Good
A beautiful movie that though was a little slow twords the begining was well crafted with talented actors/actresses and an amazing ending. One use of the word intercourse was was of the only bothering things in this movie but due to a mature plot great romance film for tweens and up.

Lovely romance
I enjoyed this movie greatly. Keira did a great job, and the others are great as well. Though somewhat slow in parts, overall this stayed very true to the book and is a great movie to get together with the girls to watch. Makes me belive in happily ever after!

WORST MOVIE IN THE WORLD
I HATED IT! I FELL ASLEEP WHEN I WAS WATCHING IT
- I rate this title on for age 2 and give it
It just didn't live up to expectations
If you've seen the 1995 mini series with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy, or have read the book you will be dissappointed in the new performance. You don't hate Mr. Darcy like you should in the begining, and you don't see how immature the youngest two sisters are. The character development was poor, but it's still a good movie all the same. Alot of younger kids though will loose interest and get lost in the language. So it's probably best for older teens up to really appreciate a movie such as Pride and the Prejudice.

kiera knightly was fabulous!
this was a pretty good film. Kiera knightly (lizzy) was fabulous. Mathew Mcfadden (mr. darcy) was horrible though so knightly pretty much carrys the whole film. if you have seen the BBC version of this story you will have alot to think about and discuss. definatly good for any romance loving teen.

This was good but I didn't understand all the witty jokes
Pride and Prejudice is a movie about a girl called Elizabeth Bennet (Keira Knightly). At first Elizabeth dislikes haughty Mr. Darcy, a friend of Mr. Bingley a man who has just moved into Netherfield Park. She hates him even more when she finds he has involved himself in the relationship between Mr. Bingley and Jane, her older sister. However, Mr. Darcy finds himself attracted to Elizabeth despite her family and low social status. This is a funny story with good acting. However, I didn't understand some of the jokes, and I think it was a little advanced. I would recommend this wonderful movie to kids ages 11+!
