Parents need to know that there's a streak of off-color humor running through the movie, with Inspector Clouseau tangled up with transvestites and even a whip-wielding dominatrix in a brothel. Clouseau is, as usual, racially insensitive towards his "little yellow" valet Cato Fong -- but in this one Cato kind of gets his revenge. Drug-smuggling is a key part of the plot, but no details about use and addiction are volunteered.
Positive messages:Douvier's mistress Simone joins forces with Clouseau only because Douvier dumped her, rather than any conscience about being a gangster's girlfriend. When he learns the kind of money he could make running a house of prostitution, Clouseau has to think it over for a moment -- but he remains, as always, on the side of justice, however clumsily.
Violence:A car is riddled with bullets and its occupant killed (out of sight). Slapstick fighting a la Clouseau vs. Cato, and some martial-arts performed with a bit more gravitas. Oh yes, the animated Pink Panther cartoon in the opening credits is of the Tom-and-Jerry variety, with the cartoon Clouseau shot, dynamited, smashed etc.
Sex:A married gangster and his mistress shown in bed together (in pajamas - you think they're husband and wife for most of the movie). A female impersonator behaves affectionately toward Clouseau, resulting in the detective himself being mistaken for some sort of pervert. This theme continues when Clouseau finds his old apartment converted into a kinky brothel, and he's thrown to a whip-wielding dominatrix in a sexy tight outfit.
