The Sandlot 2 (PG, 2005)

common sense media says

So-so sequel to a favorite kids' movie.

parents & educators say

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that there is a surprising amount of profanity for a PG movie, and graphic bathroom humor. There are some scary moments as a dog chases small children. There is some boy/girl romance, with one smooch, and a more aggressive kiss where a character kisses a girl against her will. While the cast is diverse and there are some issues early on about gender equality, the film never addresses these ideas thoroughly.

Positive messages: Some social issues addressed, diversity celebrated and positive examples of teamwork.
Violence & scariness: Rough and tumble, a brief fistfight.
Sexy stuff: Some boy/girl romance, an aggressive and unwanted kiss.
Language: Frequent mild profanity (Hell, crap, ass) and one strong profanity (s-word).
Consumerism: A pair of Nike sneakers help the hero save the day, "Just Do It" included in dialogue.
Drinking, drugs, & smoking: Not applicable.

What's the story?

What's the story?
THE SANDLOT 2 returns to the popular neighborhood playing field of The Sandlot and features a gang of boys led by David (Max Lloyd Jones) and rival gang of girls, led by the "liberated" Hayley (Samantha Burton). Both groups want the field for playing, and when they team together, they battle a "real" team of snooty Little Leaguers. The drama then switches to a fear of the enormous dog that lives in the yard next to the Sandlot.

Is it any good?

Is it any good?

The Sandlot 2 does a good job of assembling a diverse cast, including children of different races, genders and abilities (a member of the boys' gang is deaf, and James Earl Jones plays a blind character). Not the worst movie for kids, but nothing really special, either.

Ok
If you saw the original, check this out, just for laughs. It's not even close to what the original was but it wasn't that bad. It's pretty much the same plot, a big dog (the Great Fear) who turns out to be gentle, a younger version of Smalls (not as good of a character, though) who's a dork. But instead of a baseball that goes over the fence, it's a model rocket!!?? And they added girls. The ending's kinda funny. (Tarquel got abducted by aliens!) But it's not as good as the first one.

The Sandlot 2
This movie is really good. PG- For peril, some rude humor, a scence of a brief fistfight, and language.
