A Truly Hilarious Sequel Much Better Than the Original!
VERY funny. One of my favorites. The only objectionable content are some mild innuendos and some mild language. Great for kids 8 and up. Highly recommended.
- I rate this title on for age 5 and give it
Sexual Content (Pause): Lots of innuendo. Violence (Not an Issue): Comic peril. Language (Pause): Ass. Social Behavior (On): Shrek learns to accept himself. Commercialism (Not an Issue): Fake commercialism for fast food and other products. Shrek is part of a huge marketing empire. Drug/Alcohol/Tobacco (Not an Issue): A brief drug joke, but it's really catnip.

Many iffy jokes are unnoticable...
Adults will notice most of this movie's sexually-related jokes, most of it from Puss In Boots. The rest isn't really a problem. In the violent situations, characters often recover soon, and it only is peril.

a dissapointing sequel to a good movie
this movie was very disappointing and was not nearly as good as the original. the plot sucked, the humor sucked, but there were some okay funny scenes.

A horrible story about parents trying to force a divorce
Let's try not to subject our kids to the concept that it is acceptable to have a superficial society where divorce is the norm. Forget the cute aspects of this movie - it's a disgraceful theme and a horrible sequel to what was a great movie.

Unnecessary cross-gender issue included
I enjoyed this movie until the cross-dressing bartender character was introduced. It was completely unnecessary and inappropriate to include this in an animated film aimed primarily to a child audience. And, just to push the envelope, at the end of the movie the writers decided to throw in the crossdresser embracing Prince Charming and taking him down for a kiss. Obviously, this is ridiculous for a kid's movie, and the intent of Hollywood to introduce this to children is obvious and reprehensible. There is no warning given in the PG rating that there is sexually suggestive material.

I lost 6 braincells watching this
I did not personally enjoy this movie. It did not even hold a candle to the first fantastic film that I loved. Its storyline was not particularly interesting and all I could think of was getting back to my hotel room to finish packing and get to bed. Really, don't see this movie.

I liked the part when they danced. I laughed a lot. Colette age 5

Funny but not for kids.
The big problems in this movie lie with the gay cat (Puss-n-boots) and the transvestite bar tender. Why do these characters need to exist in a movie for children? There are other areas of concern that merit the PG rating. Overall, it was a funny movie for pre-teens - adults. I don't think it was appropriate for younger kids.

Go see it
We took our 5 yr & 7 yr. kids.... They had no real issues with the movie. The animation is good. I would rate this movie PG only because of the crude humor.

Not as good as the first...
Sequels are never known to be as good as the first. In this case, the first one was REALLY hard to beat so I wasn't expecting much. It was good and light like Shrek should be but a little too much "romantic" stuff for me. Loses a little of the humor when that happens. Both kids enjoyed it and it was nice to have a family movie to go to. I love how Shrek can make Puss 'n Boots into a cool character again. The kids don't even realize he's not someone "new". Good movie and I wasn't disappointed because I didn't have high hopes for it.

Light hearted and fun!
We loved the movie. I took my almost four year old, and we both really enjoyed it. We were looking forward to it after renting Shrek. There was humour for adults and kids too. They did a good job of picking up where they left off from the first movie. Even though I rated it best for 5 -7 year olds, I think it is fine for younger ones too. This is a good flick to take your kids to see this summer. In fact, I bet we will end up seeing it more than once!

Great Movie
I loved Shrek 2! It's right up there with the first Shrek. Some things were funny to me, as an adult, but my 5 year old didn't understand. We both loved the movie. I would see it over & over again.

Lots of laughs for grown-ups
I went with my 5 year old. He loved it and I thought that all the allusions to well-known films were hysterical. Great movie.

Fun for kids & adults
The kids loved it and so did I. Kids enjoyed the visual humor, while there was enough verbal humor that, while it went right over the kids heads, was great for grown-ups. I liked the message that love beats out beauty every time.

Definitely the Best in the Series!
Absolute best! I loved it so much! I have it on DVD and it is so good! My favorite Shrek. The only concern is the word "ass", which is brief and shouldn't bother anyone. Love it!

Finally - a sequel that's even better than the first
Sexual Content (Pause): A character may be a transsexual/transvestite/cross-dresser/etc. Pinocchio's nose grows when he says he isn't wearing ladies' underwear. Some innuendo. Violence (Not an Issue): Mostly comic. Language (Pause): Double play on the word "ass". Social Behavior (On): Fiona is a strong female character. Tolerance and accepting yourself are major themes of the movie. Some crude humor. Commercialism (Not an Issue): Parodies of actual places and products. Part of a huge marketing machine. Drug/Alcohol/Tobacco (Not an Issue): Drug joke - but it turns out to be catnip.

Gay cats?
Alright, Puss In Boot is not a homosexual. I'm watching the movie right now and there is absolutely no dig at him. And the Ugly Stepsister is an UGLY STEPSISTER. Not a crossdresser. It's a brilliant movie. I like it better than the first one.

I loved this movie! Donkey is my favorite character, because he is SO funny! I would recommend this to anyone who liked the original Shrek movie.

Not a Child Movie
There are numerous issues that some others have brought up, gay, transvestites, etc. Also a message that the police use "police brutality". Many images that need to be explained. What is the message that we are teaching our children. This was an adult cartoon satire at best.
Are the values that are displayed in this movie, ones that you would have in your home? If the answer is no, then dont let your kids see it.

Great movie, though not as good as the first
I went to this movie with my family, and all of us had a good time. Shrek was an amazing movie, and they did a good job on Shrek 2 too, though it wasn't as great as the first. I would definitely suggest seeing this movie as a family, because it is great for all ages!

This movie was very good. Well with a all star cast what do you expect? There was one scene were Fiona starts making out with Shrek and she gets washed away by a wave and a mermaid is making out with Shrek next. If you want to be one of those people who cares about that, well, you better see Clifford's Big Movie. Other than that, it's a great summer film.
