Wow, I never thought the dragon was scary and neither has my 4 year old daughter, who has watched since she was interested enough in sitting through entire movies. She loves the movie. Just like she loves many of other Disney movies.

Girl's are NOT weak.
Its not a bad movie or anything, but i don't like the message it's implying, that girl's are weak and useless and a boy has to save them to save the day.

Bad violence, worse movie, WAY scary
HORRIBLE! if I was 34, had a kid, and he was 8, this would appeal to him, but I would rather let him watch Saving Private Ryan than this

A Dream Come True
The message is true love conquers all, but Maleficent is a very scary villian but neat for older kids and adults. She's so powerful they put her as the lead villian in Kingdom Hearts. The scene where Philip kills her does show some blood but nothing too graphic.

Contains moments of grandeur. Lush colors. A magical air. One of the most menacing villains in the Disney canon.

terrible role models for boys and girls. That a princess walks around and picks berries with her life and a prince makes life perfect despite what may be his personality? and that there is a happily ever after when relationships actually take work and people also work. It is gross.

I still love this film :)
I love this film. There's typical Disney violence, but one fight scene between a dragon and the prince is more scary. Aurora and the prince kiss. The word, "h-ll" is used, but not as lanuague. In one scene, two kings start getting drunk. Aurora is sweet, but she is the typical dasmel-in-distress who dreams of a prince. And she talks to a stranger all by herself, which could have been dangerous. Just something to think about.

Fun But Not Great
Sleeping Beauty is one of Disney's lesser films, and not really a classic at all. The films characters are memorable, but the films story is just fine. This film is also probably the most violent and terrifying of the Disney Animated flicks. It will definitely frighten young children. So this one is a pass.

Sleeping Beauty Is No Snooze
DIsney's 1950s translation of the classic fairy tale is really well done. The incorporation of Tchaikovksy's "Sleeping Beauty" musical score makes the movie even all the more fun. There's no real surprises here--like Snow White, true love's first kiss breaks the spell. Having said that, the Prince must fight a vile creature and her goblin assistants in order to save a recently deceased Princess Aurora. Some small children may find both Maleficent (Eleanor Audley, who also voiced another Disney villain--Lady Tremaine from Cinderella) and her goblins to be a little dark and scary. The scene in which Princess Aurora has fallen under Maleficent's spell, leading up to her pricking her finger on the spinning wheel, is kinda eerie as well and may frighten some small children. The music, again taken straight from Tchaikovsky's "Sleeping Beauty" suite, is at it's most intense and creepy moments, intensifying the scene in the movie. While I would not say that there is too much drinking in the film, there is a scene in the movie in which King Stephen and Prince Philip's dad are drinking toasts to the wedding of their children. In the same scene, the lute player is scene drink and hiccuping into his instrument. While humorous, some more conservative parents may be put off by this scene and it can easily be skipped over without missing part of the movie or storyline. On a positive note, Princess Aurora represents the Disney-stereotypical princess--selfless, beautiful, and (arguably) gullible. She's also fair, kind, and full of love for the fairies who raise her. The fairies act more like sisters in a family, sibling rivalry and all, and parents can use that to help quarreling siblings solve problems (because there obvious is real magic that will solve life's solutions). You be the judge. I find the movie to be fairly mild, but don't give your kids nightmares over it.

Far too scary for kids under 6 or 7
Are you kidding me?! Five stars for kids aged 4 and up?! This movie is WAY too scary for kids that young. More importantly, what is the redeeming value of Sleeping Beauty? To teach little girls that their prince will save them, since they are obviously too foolish to protect themselves?

It's all b-e-a-utiful!!
No matter what you say about this movie, if you look hard enough you can find anything, this movie is one of the Disney classics, which has elements of : romance, slight danger, suspense, drama and many more. This movie is no different, this movie does have a positive message, it teaches us that deep down our parents do care about us, by giving up their child at the beginning they were doing the best for her by giving her a chance in life, and also that no matter how Aurora turned out they loved her all the same. Aurora is a good role model because she teaches you to help others and to be nice to everyone, she doesn't judge people by their looks but likes their personality. This movie is perfect in every way, some of you think it has violence but it has NONE AT ALL!!! For starters is in cartoon form, which should say that NONE of this movie is ever real, no dragons no nothing, you should also watch this with a parent so they can explain points you are unsure about so you don't feel scared, this movie is harmless and Disney would never produce anything that can hurt you!!!

Not the best
The movie is okay, but my main problem with all of Disney's Princess movies is that the girls are weak and need to be saved by Prince Charming or whatever. It's a bad influence on little girls that they need to be pretty, skinny blond girls who can't be strong and need to be saved from something in the end. There is a LOT of merchandise- Halloween costumes, commercials, dolls, books, etc., so be careful. Otherwise, it's an okay movie for young girls.
