What parents need to know

Parents need to know that because this movie deals with Tigger's search for his "real" family, it may not be a good fit for the youngest adopted children. Expect some mild peril as Tigger searches high and low for his family; at one point he is lost in the woods and his buddies search for him in a snowstorm.

  • In the end, Tigger finds that his friends love him enough to become family.
  • Tigger can be stubborn and sometimes self-centered, putting his friends in peril while he searches high and low for his family tree. But his friends care so much for him that they will do anything for him. When they write a letter to him, masquerading as his real family, his friends say very caring things like, "Be sure to dress warmly."
  • Tigger 's carelessness knocks a huge boulder off of a cliff, which crushes Eeyore's house. Tigger is lost in the woods by himself, and friends search for him into a big snowstorm.
  • Not applicable.

What's the story?

When the rambuctious Tigger destroys Eeyore's home, everyone in the Hundred Acre Wood gets so upset that they ask him to leave them alone. Tigger feels so dejected that he wonders why no one appreciates his Tigger-ness. In fact, he wonders, why aren't there more Tiggers around like him? So begins a determined search for his family tree. Can Pooh and pals convince him that no matter what he finds on his quest, they will always be there for him?

Is it any good?

Though the first 20 minutes of this addition to the Pooh series provide lots of giggly Tigger moments, our feline friend's quest to find his own family feels a little over-extended as the movie wears on. It's not a new theme, and Tigger's search might feel somewhat predictable to adults. Plus, Tigger's decision to find his own family that "looks like him" has him ignoring his friends, which causes hurt feelings all around.

Despite its shortcomings, this playful, musical peek into Pooh's Corner does illustrate why it's such a special place. And viewers learn that true family might not look exactly the way one expects. Sometimes what we're looking for is bouncing along next to us the whole time.

What families can talk about

  • Families can talk about how everyone is preparing for winter in this movie. Why must they prepare for winter? Why doesn't Tigger prepare? Who is best prepared for the storms? How do you get ready for winter?

  • Branding for the Disney characters is everywhere. Here are some tips to help your kids become grounded in a sea of commercialism.

  • Why is it important for Tigger to find someone who looks like him? Does looking like someone make that person feel more like family? What is your definition of family?

Better than I remember it being
It's odd how much I like this one. I mean, it suffers from the problem commonly associated with Pooh movies in that it barely has any story and does everything in its power to draw it out for as long as it can, but there's just something lovable about this movie. Yeah, Tigger does come across as childish, but that's part of his character. He's not trying to be mean. He's just a child inside and doesn't know better. I love how they brought in the Sherman Brothers to write the songs. They still do an excellent job.

Not interesting for my 2 year old; maybe next year.
Tigger is a bit too whiny in this movie for my taste. Aside from that, this particular angsty storyline wasn't gripping for my 2 year old. I'll try this movie again next year, when she's 3.

Watch closely!
There is one part in this movie when Tigger is singing a song and there are a few parts that I thought to be inappropriate. There are multiple time when girl tiggers are walking around in bathing suits dancing like in Vegas or acting "sexy" on the t.v. set of a Maury like show. Also during that same song there is a part when Tigger is in front a nude statue and there is a leaf covering the male private area. Not at all what I would expect from a Tigger movie.

Warning - It'll make you cry
I loved this movie!! It has an amazing message and sappy viewers like me will be wiping away tears when tigger has his sad moments. Some things might go over the head of 2 year olds, but hey! it's winnie the pooh!
