I personally loved this movie, but saw it as an adult. I don't think it's appropriate for any younger children because of 1. language (my 4 yo gets upset when he hears an adult say 'idiot' or 'stupid') and the scary kid next door (what he does to the toys is pretty frightening!) The movie has some great messages on friendship, and working out conflicts, and the animation was amazing!

Scary Toys!
My son no longer wants to watch it... He is really scared of those mutant disfigured toys at the end of the movie... So he keeps watching "Toy Story 2" instead.
- I rate this title iffy for age 6 and give itMy concerns are:
- Excessive violence
Two previous reviewers nailed my feelings about this movie: "...I realized how much violence is strewn through the film. The toys fight each other, call each other insulting names, the kid Sid next door is a sociopath who plays with matches and rockets, the toy-eating dog in Sid's house is abusive, and then abused by the toys... it just goes on & on. All in all, way too dark and violent for the age group it is marketed towards. The message of playing nice and working together is completely lost in the shuffle unless the parent strings it together for the child." "...while it seems innocuous at first, several times characters get called names like "idiot" and "stupid". Not sure I like this too much." Actually, I am sure I don't like it at all. Between Sid's malice and the casual disrespect for everyone shown by all the name calling, I just find this movie inappropriate for younger viewers. And how do 100% of 30-some parent reviewers say it's too violent and at the same time say it's great for kids??

The first of MANY astonishingly amazing movies that will come from Pixar!
There is mild peril, which will likely be frightening for your yongest child. Aside from the peril, there is virtually nothing to worry about in this incredible film. Easily one of the best animated films of all time.

A good funney movie
This movie brings childrens toys to life on the big screen.Children will love to see this. The one thing parents should take into advisement for their son,or daughter,That their is a boy next door seen a number of times being crule to his toys. And he is see deforming them.A number of deformed toys are seen in him room. And is seen tiing a rocket to the star toy Buss Lightyear.

Funny for adults but violent for kids
My 4 year old loves this movie, and I briefly found it amusing, too, until I realized how much violence is strewn through the film. The message of playing nice and working together is completely lost in the shuffle unless the parent strings it together for the child.

Funny, but some negative issues
Love this movie; however, while it seems innocuous at first, several times characters get called names like "idiot" and "stupid". Not sure I like this too much. Still, after debriefing, a family favourite

Minimum age should be 8+
The "violence" in this movie is too intense for children younger than 8. The "bad boy" Sid decapitates his sister's dolls (adults will find a follow-up scene funny, but it will be confusing to younger children). Sid also blows up his toys, and plays with a rocket labeled "Keep away from children". Most reviews recognize the need to increase the age. Perhaps one reviewer is skewing the results with multiple submissions?

Great for the whole family
Great movie. The whole family loved it - great for kids and adults. The only part that is a bit shady is the crazy kid next door and the dog. Might be a bit scary for some youngsters. - Duane Nason

Toy Story has a dark side...beware young watchers
This is a very fun movie for middle age and older kids and adults. The character, Sid, is too disturbing for kids 6 and under. Toy Story 2 is even darker.

Not for little ones
My 3 year old girl is really getting into movies now. This movie should not be rated G. The scenes with Sid the neighbor blowing up toys is disturbing as well as the put together toys in his room. Scared my daughter pretty bad. Might be ok for older kids.

My review
This cute disney movie is a classic and beloved story. Toy story is very tame when it comes to swearing out loud, in one scene however Mr.Potato head takes his mouth off his face and kisses his butt. The violance is cartoonish but scary for young kids, Sid a horrible little boy destroys toys with rockets, dynamite, matches, and tools. Sensitive, and younger kids will have nightmares, and dont forget to tell them not to do these stunts at home that Sid does!

Cute!
This is a very cute movie. It does have some words like "idiot" occasionally, but other than that it's fine. Just tell your kids not to say those kinds of words.
- I rate this title on for age 2 and give it
The best kids movie ever made
When I saw this movie I knew from the first second it was going to be a great movie. I got something even more. The best kids movie ever. This is a story of friendship and a great one at that. This is the first computer animated movie that I felt the characters emotions. This movie looks better than most of the computer animated movies today. This movie has great characters and the animation looks great. Everybody who reads my review should see this movie. One last time this is the best childreds movie ever.
