What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this song is an overall clean track that talks about putting your worries aside and trying to have fun. While the song includes a couple of lines about drinking, it keeps the central message on the inoffensive side, even with the addition of typically risque rapper Nicki Minaj -- resulting in a single that's an OK choice for younger teens.

  • Encouraging people to forget their troubles for a night and try to enjoy life, this tune sends a positive message about letting go of stress.
  • By producing music with a current sound yet clean lyrics, Jay Sean is a positive alternative to the many envelope-pushing young artists out there.

What's the story?

R&B singer Jay Sean is back with "2012 (IT AIN'T THE END)," a single that also features guest vocals from female rapper Nicki Minaj. Despite the appearance of the notoriously racy Minaj, Sean sticks with the clean approach that characterizes most of his songs -- describing a New Years' Eve scene that focuses more on forgetting your cares and having a good time than overdoing the substance use. Though the track includes a couple lines about "bottles poppin'," it's a primarily clean tune that's appropriate for younger and older teens alike.

Is it any good?

Though Jay Sean has the slick look of a music star, he doesn't quite have the pipes of R&B peers like Chris Brown or Bruno Mars. That said, "2012" still has a fun, club-friendly sound that will make for plenty of good dance-floor remixes.

Very Good
Amazing. But one part says that "it's so hot in the club that the girls are taking all their clothes off."....

Stupid song,
I haven't heard this song, but I can guarantee it sucks due to the little (or zero) amount of talent both of these pathetic excuses for musicians have. I'm glad however, that finally someone is making a song about 2012 that isn't about it being the end of the world. At least I know someone else besides me has enough brains to realize that it isn't. I'll be laughing on that day when nothing happens and everyone realizes what fools they were.

Great song, catchy and clean
Another great, clean song by Jay Sean! Very tame, even for a party song. The "worst" is "poppin bottles till we can't stand"
