Why We Rated This iffy for Ages 15–16

The good stuff

  • Messages:

Veers wildly between obtusely sexist and sensitive-guy sweet.

What to watch out for

  • Violence:

A lot of violent, if sorta-poetic, imagery.
  • Sex:

A lot of sexuality without using the words that trigger the PA stickers.
  • Language:

Asshole is used twice -- everything else is under the radar.
  • Consumerism:

    Nothing obvious.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

A few drug and drinking references.

What Parents Need to Know

About All the Right Reasons

Parents need to know that these lyrics include a lot of references to sexuality and violence, even though they have been cleverly written to avoid those very special words that guarantee a parental advisory sticker.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about the very real relationship issues that must have inspired the lyrics. Most teenagers will find this all-too-familiar territory.

I rate this title iffy for age 12 and give it 3.0

    like it

"Rockstar" is fairly explicit but nothing like some of thes rock bands nowadays. A--hole is used often on "Next Contestant" and sex is unbelievably mild. Maybe it should have a sticker on it.

  5. Kid Reviewer Age 10

I rate this title on for age 10 and give it 3.0

    I like this

The songs I can relate to are "Photograph", "Savin' Me", "Far Away", "If Everyone Cared", and "Rockstar".
