Common Sense Note
Parents need to know that the lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls has tamed herself for her first single off her upcoming solo album. Nicole trades in her band's style of using suggestive lyrics full of sexual innuendo for some nice, clean words about how much she loves her man.
Families can talk about keeping songs clean. Do you think Nicole made a conscious effort to sing a PG song? Why or why not? Kids, in your opinion, do shocking or sexual lyrics add to -- or take away from -- a song?
Common Sense Review
Reviewed By: Heidi Kotansky
Stop the presses! One of The Pussycat Dolls has escaped! Nicole Scherzinger decided to break out on her own and join forces with mega-collaborator, will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas, to bring us an OK sappy little pop ballad, BABY LOVE. She cleans up her act with this one, but the song's lyrics can't get any cheesier. We're talking Velveeta cheese cheesy: "You are my baby love my baby love/you make the sun come up/ohh boy (ohh boy)" and "You make the sun come up on a cloudy day." But, the tune is catchy and at least she's celebrating love with respect, clean language, and giddiness.
Note: Nicole's entire album is due out in 2008, so check back soon for the full review. In the meantime, fans might enjoy albums by Mandy Moore, who's also fond of love.
