Common Sense Note
Parents need to know that there's nothing offensive here, just a vastly entertaining way for little ones to learn about and from authentic jazz.
Families can talk about how the sound of specific instruments conveys emotions. Which instrument is their favorite, and why? They can also dance, sing along, and just enjoy the music.

BABY LOVES JAZZ is the first of a series in a project created by Andy Blackman Hurwitz, whose idea is to teach kids about various genres of music without compromising the music itself, and this CD does just that, beautifully. The series is slated to include: Baby Loves Disco, Baby Loves Reggae, Baby Loves Hip Hop and Baby Loves Salsa.
Baby Loves Jazz is a toe-tapping, finger-snapping, be-bopping way for children to learn about jazz from some of the hottest musicians out of the New York jazz scene as they lovingly perform various clever, authentic, and imminently entertaining interpretations of children's classics and new favorites.
While the entire CD is eminently entertaining, stand out tracks include the raucous "Old MacDonald," the New Orleans-soaked "Scat Song," the lush "Lullaby Jazz," and the very danceable "Go Baby Go".
Interspersed throughout are imaginative interludes highlighting specific jazz instruments.
The CD ends with a trilogy of downbeat, lullaby songs that's just right for bedtime to relax and soothe the small ones off to sleep. The musicians are obviously having a hornful of fun. You and your kids will, too!
