What’s the Story?

The brains of the Baby Einstein outfit have come up with remakes of two dozen classical pieces, all with an animal theme this time, in a blandly pleasant package called BABY NOAH. The tracks include a friendly "orchestra warm-up" and then take off on a world tour of arrangements inspired by animals from the rainforest tropics, the outback, the polar region, and more. Heavy on the Beethoven ("The Lizard Chase," "Wombat Dance," "Koala's Hide and Seek," "Puppy Play," and "Building a Home, Building a Nest,"), the collection also includes works by Bizet, Mozart, and other classical composers in unique orchestrations proclaimed to be "designed just for little ears."

Is It Any Good?

3

It's hard not to wonder why all this is necessary -- would it make more sense to expose young kids to recordings of world-famous orchestras playing these familiar classical pieces? Yet the kid-friendly presentation is awfully convenient for busy new parents, with a CD insert that includes cute pictures and a relentlessly sincere treatise on why music is good for children.
