Calms down the 3yo crowd when they are melting..
We listen to Alvin and the Chipmunks greatest hits cd, and my 3yo son started singing "She loves you" and "Please, please me"... the 2 beatle songs on the chipmunk cd. So I brought this beatle cd for him to listen to, and really, he can be overtired and melting down, I flip to the beatles and he quites down. He always, always says, this is the beatles (to whatever song we're listening to) and then the next one is the crickets, and the next one grasshoppers. He has no concept of what "The Beatles" are/were... but this music is ageless. And I'm delighted to listen to some music that isn't targeted to a 3yo... like Rafi (which he loves) or Laurie Berkner (who he also loves).

Their Collection Of Their #1 Singles Has Some Iffy Content, But Is Still Overall Clean!
The album has themes of love--and heartbreak--in it, plus a "religious swear" is used three times in one song, with a single mild drug reference in one song, on the bad side. On the good side, though, The Beatles are undeniably the greatest band in history--having revolutionized/created rock music--, and the music is overall pretty wholesome. How can you not love The Beatles?
It still drives me crazy when someone tells me they don't like The Beatles. I just don't get it. Regardless, this album is truly amazing (but so are The Beatles and all of their music). Sure, there are references, but they are so vague that it shouldn't be worried about. If there's one more really great thing you can do for your kid, introduce them to The Beatles. The Beatles should never be "old stuff" or "old news" or "old music." Their records/tapes/cd's are definitely worth buying. I love to share my love for them and I hope you can enjoy and love them too. Just buy the cd. It's definitely worth it.

Great, But Not Everything
Obviously, this album consists of #1 hits. All the songs are catchy and appealing, and could be enjoyed by even small children. Hopefully this will expand kids' viewpoints, opening them up to an earlier generation; not only the large discography of The Beatles (all of which should appeal to children, save for perhaps 'Helter Skelter' and 'Revolution 9'), but others of that generation, such as The Who. Of course there will always be suggestive themes and controversy in music (such as John's 'bigger than Jesus' fiasco), but I'm sure parents will make sure the kids don't get in too deep too soon. For now, enjoy.

Great Beatles Greatest Hits album
This is a great album for people who want some of the beatles greatest hits, but it lacks the album feel of Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper's, and Revolver. Seems to miss out on many of the Beatles greatest hits, including Here Comes the Sun, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, and Drive My Car. Still, it includes a few songs that are not on other albums (Hey Jude, Day Tripper, I Want to Hold Your Hand) and is fun to have. Long Live The Beatles!

Christ! You know it ain't easy...
I'm a Beatlemaniac. One of those fans in an audience yelling out "John! John!" as tears run down my face. Or, I would be. If I'd been alive in the good old days. I wasn't, and yet I love the boys with a firey passion of a million bridges burning. Please note that "1" is not a collection of "greatest hits." It is a collection of all the songs The Beatles made that hit number one. PLEASE NOTE that the "drug references" were never proven, and the Beatles denied them head-on.(Shut up about California grass, please. And Lucy in the Sky, which isn't even on this disc and can't defend itself.) Also, All You Need Is Love is a great, true message, and one of the songs you must hear a million times before you die. The Beatles layed the foundation for nearly all modern music. Do not allow them to be forgotten!

Great
There is some language in the "ballad of john and Yoko" with "crist" repeted, "Yellow submarine" is widly belived to be reffering to pot, The songs mention Stuff like "i want to hold your hand" and "I want to be your man", which may be reffering to romance and adult content. In real life All four beatles, John, Paul, George, And Ringo all took drugs, and were hippies. John was a huge activist, and was shot dead. Paul was belived to be dead. They wrote songs about drugs like "l.ucy in the s.ky of d.iamonds". They also have a measage, Be good to the world and your peers. Overall, The beatles are a awsome band, my favorite, and should be listened to by everyone above 7!

Best Rock Band Ever
Almost every song on here is great. I, being a Beatlemaniac, know that the "grass" in Get Back is marijuana, but (a) I won't start smoking it and (b) many kids will miss the reference completely. Day Tripper might be a bout a one-night stand, again many kids won't even get it. WAYYYYYYY less explicit than today's music.

Awesome!
This is an awesome album. It is good to first get into the Beatles or for someone who just wants some of the hits. The only thing is that i wish some other songs were on this CD such as back in the u.s.s.r, sgt. pepper's lonely hearts club band, good morning good morning and a few others.

If you haven't caught on, it's darn well time!
You just can't go wrong with the Beatles. If you find any miniscule fault with them, you must have been living under a rock for the last 50 years and I pity you! I love "Paperback Writer", "She Loves You", and "Can't Buy Me Love" the most, but I love every song on this CD. There's only a small percentage who don't get the Fab Four, you know! Buy The Beatles 1 now so you don't get left out!

One of the best
I am a completely huge Beatles fan after buying this CD a few months ago. It's great and really fun to listen to. There are a few sort of references in a song or two, but they're very vague and in order to even pick up on it you have to either be a fan and know the Beatles story, and meanings behind some of the lyrics, or be old enough to know what some things are. Like in the song Day Tripper, they use the reference, "One night stand." I think that this CD is completely appropriate for people of all ages to enjoy. :)

Awesome
The Beatles are my farvorite band. I hate all of this modern no talent stuff. This is the collection of their 27 greatest hits and is definatly worth buying

It's the Beatles!
Well it's the Beatles. They are a great band. This CD has most of their hits (with the definite exception of Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds). I would say that you will have a lot of fun here but the fun changes gradually to more meaningful songs (still fun songs though). Pretty good compilation, eh?
