Why We Rated This on for Ages 7 and Up

What to watch out for

  • Messages:

"It's All About Me" discusses dreams and aspirations. All these ideas of success however involve being a star in some way ("Who will walk the red carpet/will be a star with her name in lights...set all the style trends/be the runway queen"). "Is My Dream Worth the Price?" is a song about having to sacrifice love for success ("Is it worth having a dream/with no one there to share it?...I don't want to be a lonely star") which may give young girls the impression that being popular and having boyfriends should be more of a priority than academic success.
  • Violence:

    Not an issue.
  • Sex:

The song "Something So Right" is about a romantic relationship: "I never knew someone could make me feel something so right...I'm looking in your eyes/you're looking in mine."
  • Language:

    Not an issue.
  • Consumerism:

This soundtrack is for the new Bratz movie Bratz: Girlz Really Rock; a related video game is also being released. Additionally, the Bratz line of merchandise includes the Bratz dolls as well as a full line of accessories.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Not an issue.

What Parents Need to Know

About Bratz: Girlz Really Rock Soundtrack

Parents need to know that this soundtrack to the movie Bratz: Girlz Really Rock is a safe compilation of light and fun dance songs that are primarily about friendship, although a few of the tracks go a bit beyond innocent friendships. There's a love song duet, a song about the Bratz girls future successes (namely being on fashion magazine covers and living the celebrity lifestyle), and another that laments that success is nothing without someone to share it with.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about the Bratz girls' priorities. Do you think they take school and work seriously, or are they more about partying, dancing, and socializing? How do you think the girls show friendship? With songs like "Friendship is Everything" and "It's All About Me," do you think the they might make some girls feel insecure about themselves, especially if they're not popular in school or into fashion?
