What’s the Story?

BRAZILIAN PLAYGROUND, the ninth CD in Putumayo Kids' education series, features some of the country's most revered artists, including Teresa Cristina (samba superstar) and Gilberto Gil. Songs about broken-down (but beloved) cars and a festival celebrating a bull that dies and comes back to life every year will make kids smile. And the abundant liner notes, which are supplemented by a free downloadable learning guide from Putumayo's site, make the songs come alive with the culture and history of Brazil.

The stellar lineup and happy mix of bossa nova and forro tunes (popular dance music from the Northeast) make a great soundtrack for both active family fun and chilling out. The tunes are full of zest and flavor, making them perfect background music for dinner, playtime, or car rides. Grown-ups who enjoy Brazilian music will like this CD almost as much as kids.
